BNC connector

I have an electrical glitch. I have a starter box in the engine compartment. It has a BNC connector that can be used to cycle the starter. I made up a button with BNC end. When I first plug it in it works perfectly. After a few minutes the solenoid will only click. Could it be keeping current to something and it's getting hot? Probably just need to dig into the wiring more and see what it is. Oddest part is if I wait a few minutes and try again it works and then will stop again, hence wondering about heat.

Any ideas???

Is this connected to a 50 ohm cable? because if it is, the center connector is rated at 7 amps.
