Posting for a friend...Bracket raced, Top and footbrake, 3300 lbs total, 540ci, powerglide, shifts at 6800, unknown trap rpm, flash at 5500 maybe...currently runs 5.88et with 4.10. Also what can be changed to make better on cold track in general?..6 second cars can't hook but others are going 5.20's with no problems.

Not knowing much other details I would go with 4.88 gears if that is an 1/8 mile only car. I currently run 4.30 with 32.5-16-15 tire and cross through finish line turning 6700 in the 1/8 doing 132 mph. I have been thinking of going to 4.88 myself beings nobody running 1/4 up here anymore.

A playback tach or some type of data acquisition would help you to actually know something about the run. Needs 500 rpm more stall imho.

I would agree with the stall also depending on what he is trying to run class wise. I am at 5800 and had a 6300 in it and was tenth and half faster with it in.

Looking at your first post and seeing he runs footbrake some more gear and looser converter may hurt his lights in my opinion.
I have footbraked this motor in my other car with 4.10 gears and did well the time I tried it but I was leaving from dead idle and run tunnelram so I am sure the tunnelram helped leaving at dead idle.
