I have a 4 link mullis with 33.5-17-16's with a 4.10 rear that just broke, my question is how much RPM some are turning in the quarter with a 4.30??? Ran 165 on the stop two weeks ago, probably run 170 next year, just dont want to turn a lot of trap RPM. Thanks

on my car, swapping from a 4.10 to a 4.30 gear set was worth about a 200rpm difference in the traps

David is it possible that your old car was spinning???? Thus the higher RPM at the stripe.

It sure didnt seem like it was spinning, and video never showed it.
A few have just said its the weight of the beadlocks but I find that strange.

Hammertime, By switching to the 4.30 gear you are probably working the converter harder and actually made it more effecient. Seen it before where a 4.30 gear actually helps slippage % of converter.

i had 4.10s origionaly and i was talked into 3.90s, it slowed way down! and it gos threw about 6800. so since i need to make a change again i thought maybe the 4.30s might work with the converter better??

According to my calculations, if the converter slippage remains the same, you'll gain 550-570rpm with the two changes of 4.30 gears and 5 more mph. If the converter locks up better with the 4.30 gears and more mph you may gain less than that... something like 400ish
