Wondering if anyone here is running one of the run around pump cooling systems and high/low leaving in high. Know its is big heat load on transmission and thinking combo might be solution if going run high/low. I know can leave and shift ._00 ou of hole but noit why I have high/low valvebody.

If running combo how effecient at keeping temp under control? Any results from those running combo welcomed.

I can go from 180 to about 150 in 10 minutes with my homebuilt system.

A better solution is to not let it get so hot in the first place. Running the fan while going down results in 15 degrees less temperature rise after the pass. Stage at 150 and with the fan off it peaks at 175-180, fan on peaks more like 160-165.

I don't have a high/low but heat rejection is still relevant for either.

Running high gear only is a different animal when it comes to building heat. 205°-210° or more isn't uncommon in the dead of summer leaving at 160°. Hot lapping you better keep an eye on it and having a fan to blow on the trans pan in the pits helps a great deal.

I bought a Koolverter to put on mine when I was racing high gear all the time but ended up making some changes and haven't raced that way much since. Never got around to putting it on so it's sitting in the garage.

Indeed it is different but all the same principles apply with respect to heat rejection. The cooling system doesn't know the difference between brakes, only heat load. The converter discharge goes directly to the cooler, hence the hottest it will ever be.Most of your temperature buildup in the pan comes from fluid that has already been through the cooler.

Ensuring that you run a fan during the pass will provide the cooler with highest delta between air/fluid and therefore highest cooling capability. Running a fan during the pass should be the primary defense against a hot transmission, everything else is secondary or you may find unneeded.

My truck is doubled nearly every time it races, sometimes tripled, in the Florida heat so it is constantly on my radar. Definitely going to recommend a quality synthetic too, I need to take my owe advice there but too cheap.

I have one dragster and two door cars leaving in high and primarily run 1/4. I honestly don't see a huge difference in trans temp high vs low. When the rounds started coming quick I use a leaf blower with a PVC T on it one big hole under the converter and some smaller holes under the pan. We have a routine at this point and doing really track trans temp any more but one summer day made two times trials and won the race so probably 8 rounds. Staged for first TT at 135 and the final at 165.

I've never been able to keep mine that cool. 2000lbs and footbraking 5.90s-6.0s in high gear only. I started using a leaf blower but got tired of hearing it and then I bought a carpet drying fan.
