Staying cooler
What are you using to stay cooler inside the ****pit? Any particular style or brand of fan? Anything moving air in the summer in Texas is a plus.

Just built something that I hope makes the heat more bearable. Bought a small heat exchanger (approx. 7x10”, about 1” thick), a 12v brushless fountain pump, and a 12v ‘bilge fan.’ Cut a hole in an oil smallish ice chest, and fit the fan in place so that it sucked air in. Then cut another hole to fit a pvc 90, and screwed the heat exchanger under the hole. Put a small enclosure on one side of this thing with a 12v 10aH battery, fuses, switch, and a charging connection. Put ice packs, frozen milk jugs, frozen 2 liters, just loose ice, etc. in with a couple quarts of water, it’ll run 2+ hours on battery power alone and make 48-52 degree air the whole time. In “testing”, ice should easily last an entire day of racing. Honestly works much better than I thought some redneck engineering would ever work.
Not much use in a dragster, but plenty compact enough for most door slammers.

Hell according to some this whole sport is redneck engineering. Hey the first TF style clutch control was a screen door closer with air and and bleed off.

Monte, I think Troy Morgan used a cool vest at his last race. Check with him. Also, he most likely has the broken Super 10 fan that may have some name or number on it.

If it's redneck and it works, it isn't redneck. LOL Nice job.

The redneck air conditioner is a great idea. Only thing I see is you really should secure it if in a door car. I've seen the design before but never saw one using a heat exchanger, just ice.

Man isn’t that the truth. Gates opening at 5:30 today for a double race. I got in bed last week after winning the race at 3:15.

It’s tied down with a couple straps in the car, can’t go anywhere.
Thanks for the feedback y’all!!
