Have a friend with a new (last year) Spitzer TD that runs PDRA, he is running ET's very similar to what I was (even slightly quicker) and the car has been flawless.

Most running TD, especially on the NHRA side prefer a suspended chassis..........not Spitzers strong suit.

I own both currently and my spitzer is the absolute fastest and nicest car from the staging beams to the finish line I've ever driven bar none. Now, everywhere else on the track and pits it sucks. lol

exactly , same here ...we won alot with that SPITZER hardtail car including a D3 T/D R/U and a T/D championship ..it would go 6.0's N/A with some spray and never shake a tire ...Definately bouncy in the pits though ... It's gone now though so we'll see how the new Miller suspended car works ...

It used to be that builders would make the hard tail cars with slip joints etc for a flexy car, and soft tail cars more or less stiff chassis wise. Is this still the case?

Yuppers

That being said, I have had two hardtail Horton cars, one was a 200" car that ran 8.40's back in the 80's that won several S/C races and was the D2 TRW All-stars representative in 91. In 2010-11 I had a 225" Horton that won races that ran as quick as 7.65 with a SBC. Both cars didn't have slip joints.....

I have some older pics here somewhere where they produced cable slip joint cars. With an actual cable to control the flex. Here is an older cable car that was welded solid.

Probably not the most popular thing I will say, but I have always felt that hard tail cars all have their own personality from the different builders and how they set them up. But 4 link cars, well that's more straight forward. With the exception of engine height, everything in front of the four link brackets is pretty much the same functionally. And four links are pretty basic as well. Finding the right setup is a little more complicated. But when someone says that their soft tail car works so well......well they all ought to work pretty well!
Now the nice features, that's a different story.

Mike, car took about 12 months from Elite largely do to outside vendor delays. Powder coating took 3 months alone. Waited on chrome and carbon fiber too.
