Msd grid safety time question
I have the settings inside my grid like this.
Safety time is 6 seconds
Safety rpm is 2500
Safety start rpm is 6000

Msd tech told me the grid has to see the launch rpm and loose 12 volts on the launch wire along with see the safety rpm before the safety rpm would activate.

My question is,

Does the safety time start after the transbrake releases or does it start after the engine meets the safety start rpm?

Thanks for your help.

The above link will lead you to the “MSD POWER GRID SYSTEM / IGNITION CONTROLLERS” article that is an introduction to Grid. In the 17, 18 and 19th paragraphs, the author gives an example of how best to tune the Safety Run Time / Limiter.

The Safety Run Time starts when the Launch input goes from +12v to 0 volts. Same as the Time from Launch Timer (TFLT).

Don’t confuse the Safety Run Time and Safety Rev Limiter (they work together), with the Safety Start RPM.

The Safety Start RPM is always in effect. Example… If you started the engine and the throttle was floored, the rpm should be limited by the Safety Start Limiter. And if the Launch input is activated and the engine exceeds the Launch Rev Limiter the Safety Start RPM limits the RPM. In truth, I find it best to program this setting equal to or greater than the Maximum Rev Limiter to prevent premature activation.
