Single wheel 1 ton vs Dually

I have an 01 F350 Dually i bought new and looking to buy a new truck. Looking at the 2024 chevy 3500 and wondering how the single wheel 3500 pulls down the road vs the Dually. I have a 32’ Bravo (steel frame) 3400lb car and golf cart. I decided to see how my F250 pulled the trailer and at 60-70mph it moves around where the Dually doesn’t. I know sway bars would fix this but I’m looking to hook and go not fool with sway bars. Anyone using a single wheel 3500 without sway bars ? How does it handle ? I’m not a fan of the chevy Dually bed but i like the single wheel 3500 truck

My SRW GMC 3500 Denali with the Duramax Diesel pulls my 15,000 lb. 34 foot inTech without issue and I use the Equalizer anti sway system. Typical highway speed is 75mph.

You answered your own question when you said "I decided to see how my F250 pulled the trailer and at 60-70mph it moves around where the Dually doesn’t."

The dual rear wheels is more stable especially on corners and windy conditions. The Dually is more stable if (when) you have to make sudden lane change due to idiots on the road.

It is also wider and harder to park in some spots.

I think Dually is better for towing and single wheel better for daily driving. Pick your poison.

A friend that I race with tried the same thing. He ended up going back to his dually. He’s just towed with it for so long he couldn’t get comfortable with the single wheel truck.

Nothing like a dually.... you literally have double the tire contact patch & double the tire sidewall controlling the load.

Power wise it won't even be a fair competition. You've pulled with a dually so I believe pulling with a single wheel will be a huge let down for you. I have had both and the dually is just better hands down. It doesn't matter how many people tell you that they pull with a single wheel and haven't had an issue.

Doesn't mean you can't get away with a single wheel but the only time the single wheel is better is when you use it as a daily.

There is no power difference between a SRW and dually with the same engine/transmission package. As a matter of fact, the only difference other than the obvious is the leaf spring rating.

4 rear tires carry the weight easier than 2. I don't know if it matters much tho.

There’s no debate that a dually is built for and the best tool for pulling a trailer over 12,000 lbs. that said a 3500 SRW does just fine pulling our typical 28-34 foot trailers

Love my duallies. Current is a 20 F450. I use a single axle chevy to tow the heads up car most the time a 2020 2500. It works fine but you MUST use the antisway bar set up. It is an ATC with the car and spares, only 24' long though. My duelly occasionally pulls the same trailer and its a hook up and go deal.

I like a dually. No white knuckle moments, braking action is better, and it keeps people from wanting to borrow it.

I always want the tow vehicle to weigh as close to equal to the load being pulled as possible.

I like my 2018 F450. Even with a 32 Foot tag, you get pushed around when a semi passes you. Being diesel powered, you don't even know it`s back there. I couldn't imagine towing with a gas powered dually. Been there done that. Nothing worse than mashing your foot to the floor just to make a 12% grade.

I have both....F350 dually and a F250 and the main difference is when you are towing in wind or as someone said when a semi passes you.
I've towed my 34' all aluminum with both and the weight isn't an issue nor power....dually just feels more stable.

I think most of us started with a 2500 single and later moved up to a dually for the stability when towing. I have had a few white knuckle drives with my dually that would have possibly crashed a single rear wheel truck. Once got caught is a severe flash flood with very high winds in Colorado mountain pass. No place to pull over and wind was blowing it all over the place.
You tow long enough you will end up in a situation where you need the extra stability. Bbetter to have more truck than you need than not enough.
Currently one of my tow rigs is a F550 and the other is a F350 Dually. The F550 tows the heavy Chaparral trailer like it is not even there even in stiff crosswinds.
