A 565 with HH heads will got 4.60's so your 582 would easily do this. In the summer heat it may go 70's though depending how good your 582 build is...

If you go the SR20 route, you will see a noticeable power increase however to get it all, you will need to turn it higher and use a cam with some added lift. Am max effort motor (talking bracket racing deal) will need to turn 8000 or so to get all the potential HP of those heads with that size engine.

Is it worth the added dollars,,, only you can decide that...

There is 4.50 power in the headhunters. I have a profiler 174X head on a 632, alky injected. Ran as fast as 4.52 @ 151, and slow as 4.59 @ 149 at 1925 lbs.

What weight are most of you guys running and where are you located? An 1850lb dragster at sea level with 1000 hp will most likely run 4.60's...

Is 4.60's really that difficult with an 1900-2000 lb dragster with a HH 582?

I've run the Brodix HH 377MC since 2009. In a 2950 lb door car (small tire/radial/stock suspension) the car went 5.0's with the engine making 1177 hp on the BES engine dyno. That was with the Sunset bracket cam.

With a more radical 55mm cam it made 1205 hp and ran 5.0's at 75 lbs heavier, 3025 lbs...but ate intake valve springs every 10 to 12 runs.

Things have to be right. Most importantly, the converter will make some really good engines look REALLY bad.

My combo is a 2017 American, Oakley 632 brodix block, raised cam, 55 mm. Callies magnum, callies ultra H, Diamond pistons, profiler 174x, matching ported intake, terminator, trans specialties converter, 4.30 gear, big bubbas, little wing, 1930 lbs. Never been on a dyno. But car went 4.525 @ 151.9 at Indy at the fall classic without nitrous, (bottle was on car). With the converter I have now, and in summer air was 4.58 at 149. Last converter I tried was .01 slower in mine shaft, and would run 4.63 @ 148 in bad air. Its not hard to make a dragster run, but have a good converter guy when you do.

329L,
what would you estimate your honest horsepower to be corrected??

I'd hope it was making 1150

152mph is 1100 hp in my opinion. I've had a few. Of course unless the driver is 250lbs, then maybe 1150

I'd say around 1100 also. 1150 is a big number for that combo. What cam and intake are you using? Also what wing, if it's anything like the older small Undercover deals, it's not even there as far as MPH is concerned....

Hard to argue against the sr20 in my opinion for the little bit of extra cost. My current 598 sr20 is in a steel block with .830" lift and double springs and runs 180 in super comp (high 4.50's, low 4.60's i'd guess)

I went from a 582HH to a comparably built 598 sr20 last season and instantly picked up 5-6mph in super comp.

My 632 is fresh off the dyno, 24 degree brodix 380 head, 1141 HP, 2050lbs going down track. Hoping to run somewhere in the 4.6's

It sounds like you are at least somewhat budget minded.

We just got our 582 back from the RACESHOP.

We are budget minded racers.
We went with the all conventional Brodix -3 extra AS CAST. it only flows 10% less than the CNCd -3s.

$3000 for the pair assembled and shipped.
Wiseco Q16 15 to 1 piston.
R/M -116 cam
Brodix 2017R manifold, similar to the Edelbrock Super Victor.
Rons Terminator.

Just finishing it this week, hope to test soon.

BTW, these heads look good and the guys at the RACESHOP thought they looked good.

Callies Compstar 4.375 crank
Manley H beam rods.

If you want more info email me

Yes Steve is feels weird. We were real close to having one too many runs on that 540 short block.

14 years on the basic block and almost 20 years on the gear drive.

got it out just in time.

Wish you were here Mikey, you could help me thrash on this junkheap to try to make Phoenix.

I should get it done but just to throw a monkey wrench in the works I ordered the wrong heim joints!

SR20 would be my choice between those 2 as more power with SR20s...

We have been upper 4.60s with a 582 steel dart block and brodix BB2s in an undercover on alcohol at 1870 lbs.

Cory's current 598 steel brodix block and brodix BB3 heads has been 4.52 on alcohol at 1870 as well.

Gas or alcohol? Skimmed thru and did not see which?

The guys I sold my 2018 Blue car to just had it freshened and ran it at Montgomery this past weekend. Sherman Ad**** was driving it and he's probably 230.

Steel Block SR20, 1.64 trans, 4.30 gear, BR3, went 4.53 @ 152 and went 8.87 @ 180 on the stop with what they said was a pretty good head wind.
