I have the red top Optima and really like it. This battery is about 5 years old? Battery is located right behind drivers seat and would not have a standard lead acid battery in case I wreck and get upside down. The sealed gel type battery is a little safer there.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I use a Red Optima, they're great but I don't trust them after 5 years so I replace them at that age. My Interstate dealer told me that there is a special procedure to test them - if you try to test them with a standard battery load tester you will not get accurate results.

I can't answer your question about the Optima battery, but do yourself a favor and look these over. My last one I had in my car for 8 years and now it is on the tongue of my trailer to power my jack and brakes. Replaced it with one of these. Always keep a battery tender on it when not in use.

Specifically this one is the battery I used.

optimas have been garbage for a long time.

That said, I run AC Delco in my door car and Braile in the dragster.

Odyssey X4

My PC1500ST says made in USA on it and is 5 yrs old. The only time I put my 6 amp charger on it is if it reads less than 12.65v after sitting for any period of time. Odyssey instructions say no need to charge unless under 12.65v.

This battery always remains in the race car for 4.5 months during the winter without a charger on it and when I checked it Feb 1st it read 12.54v.

After doing a lot of reading I have an Odyssey PC1750 on order from BatteryMart. It's the closest I saw to the GR27 I have. Size and weight wasn't a concern since it sits in the right rear corner of the bed. Not a lot of difference in price so I went for the max cranking amps.

This thing should either start it or rip all the teeth off the flywheel.

Optima red top for me. I got nervous about quality when the production moved south, but they have served me well. Not sure how old the battery is in the new to me car (in my avatar), but it hasn't given me a lick of trouble. I double class/double enter, charge on 10 amps after the second pass as I run the water pump and fan, cool it off, leave it on for a few minutes, and good to go.

Good ol' NAPA is what I use or anything without a red or yellow top.

I run the same group size as in my Duramax so I always have a spare. Converted the truck to the one Ed mentions for the dual terminals.

Used to use optima and they are expensive junk.

My side by side that sits most of the year in unheated shed without tender, and when gets run the battery takes a beating from vibration and slamming has been perfect for 4 years. After a year that no other battery survived and me being amazedit lasted. I also put the same one in my drag car. The thing is perfect just like the side by sides NOW 5 year old one. Used it once this winter to plow after sitting again for 5 months fired right up.

The battery I'm using/referring to is a cheap azz one from AutoZone believe it or not. Bought 4 deep cycle from there last summer also all worked great for the RV.
