Best 12 volt battery for drag car.
Simplest is the best. I use Deka which are East Penn batteries. O'reilly sells them or I get them from local small parts store. I wouldn't hesitate to use NAPA brand either, not sure who makes theirs. I can't remember which series mine is but it's a common top post high amperage battery that is always in stock.

This thing should either start it or rip all the teeth off the flywheel.

Glad you went with the American made battery rather than the Chinese Optima or the Middle Eastern made AC Delco.

I actually have to red tops that have been in my car since 2002
Obviously back when they were made in the good old USA. I have been
thinking about replacing for years but they just keep going.

That said, I run AC Delco in my door car and Braile in the dragster.

I replaced my Optima's in 2016 that I bought in 2006. One battery finally failed wouldn't take a charge and the hole case had swelled up like it had been frozen . The other battery is still in service today on my solar powered gate . I bought a new optima in 2012 for my back up Bracket car it only lasted 4 years .

I never had an issue with a Red Top,but I now use a Yellow Top.

I did buy an Optima charger a few years back. Now that was a piece of junk.

When picking a battery for a bracket car what would you look for:
Higher CA
Higher CCA
Reserve capacity?

I would think if your at a "battery store" you would pick the higher CA and RC - Right?

Most important, keep the shiny side up

My battery on my altered is right behind my seat. I choose the Optima because it is a sealed gel battery with less chance of leaking acid in a crash. That is a benefit no matter where it is located on any race car.
I have had very good results with the Optima but there are other sealed batteries out there if you do not like the Optima.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

We've had good luck with red tops over the years. I bought a used dragster a few years back and it came with a blue top/light gray case marine battery and it's been great so far.

With all that being said I am considering the GoLithium battery on my new dragster when it is done. Going to scale and test the car first then decide.

"Best" depends on the category your focused on. For my money, plain 12v units from Advance have been fine for me. Good warranty, can use coupon codes, and I don't care about weight. 12v is 12v, and they've proven to be durable for my application.
