The time and parts lying around.

This weekend took few hours to build in car shut-off. Nothing worse than getting in car, strapping in, and realizing you killed the power. Only time it's worth it is if good looking gal is walking the lanes and you ask her to turn it on for you.... But that is far and few between seeing...

Anyways I took an old trans shift cable and two trans shift cable holders and mounted them on plates or to my shifter bracket to create an in car shut-off. Works awesome... And it's a safety feature I wanted within arms length in the unfortunate event.

The lever was just make shift to try the dimensions out and I'll Fab something a little prettier on the mill and lathe.

Hope this helps. Cost me $10in material. They sell them for $200.

I've had one in my Colt for almost 10 years now, because I forgot the power switch almost every time I got strapped in.

Yes works exactly the same... Lever inside just moves, just like outside handle moves out and in when lever inside is moved.

Very nice when wiring in car too like I've been last few days. Just flip switch to kill everything. Throw lever to give it a try.

Worth it's weight in gold.

Haha. Good eye! Car is exactly as it was stock with power everything. Everything is still functional. Stock carpets, still had flip up headlights.

Aftermarket 555 BBC I built, naturally aspirated. Solid rear conversion I build that bolt right in with no mods to car. Best 60ft was 1.24sec. Weight is 3350 and I'm 220lbs.

Runs 9.0s@153.5mph. Fast as I care to go... Bracket racing.

Ski you think a choke cable would be strong enough?

I doubt it those are pretty stiff switches. If you make lever long enough to have leverage then the cable will probably not have enough rigidity.

One option that works really well is an electric solenoid. I put one one my dragster and it works great you can kill power from inside car or outside.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

As mentioned you need something rigid. Even the rear mount we bent in picture we swore it would not flex. It does but still works.

Thought of electric but if something is shorting in system from wreck I didn't want to rely on electric.

Last year I had a trans cooler line touch starter after years of being setup like that in fact it was gm design in the Corvette. Anyways car completely shut down on return road. Coasted to trailer as it only happened 50 ft away. Came to stop.. Smoke rolling. Here trans lines caught diaper on fire. Quick kill of rear switch, bottle of water from kid and it was out with just a hole in diaper. But nothing in the car electrically worked on few seconds coasting back while those lines were shorted to transmission cooling lines. Even tried starting it after it happened. Thought the rear switch got flipped from vibrating or something. Nope it was just shorted.

I used a fuel shut off cable that I had lying around, mounted to the cross bar in the front of my ****pit. I pull the tee handle and it kills the power. Hooked to the same level as the rear shut off! Been there, done that, trying to get someone's attention to pull the switch for me after I'm buckled in!
