I have been pleased with my Moroso. Star owners rave about them, and they seem to have a smaller footprint. I have only owned Moroso.

I have a Star on my door car and a Moroso on my dragster. They both suck and get the job done. They both need periodic maintenance (little brakekleen in the inlet and should last a long time. That being said Star wants you to run their tank before the pump, to eliminate debris from getting in the pump.

I have ran GZ for the last 13 years, with no issues. They require no maintenance, should say I've never did any maintenance to mine. NA and blown application they have worked great.

I think the best bang for the buck is the GZ motorsports pump. Mine has been going for maybe 7 years? with no problems and pulls 18 inches of vacuum on my motor. Now I do think the Star pump looks really nice and have heard good things about it so it would be my second choice.

Can't speak for any other brands but we have three moroso 3 vane enhanced vacuum pumps and we've been very happy with them. All three cars use the radius tooth belts to drive them.

I have a Star sportsman pump on mine and love it. I chose Star because they are local to me and I can run it up to them if I ever have a problem.
I have a few friends that run the GZ pumps on their Mopars. They have nothing but good things to say about them.

There you go. All three manufactures have their fans. It is curious to me why some people have to maintain their pumps, and others seem to never need any cleaning at all. I have cleaned my Moroso once in the 15+ years I have owned it. It consistently pulls whatever I set the relief for according to the recorder. Other people seem to have to go at theirs with brake clean daily.

I will take a guess at it as to how well they got their motors seal up. A motor that isn’t sealed well will pull a lot of oil through it and if it is an alky motor moisture too so that tends to plug it up. Purely a guess on my part.

Not with my Star. I'm on alcohol. But it is hard anodized I believe from the color of it.

I put the complete Star system on my car last year. Best money I ever spent. I run alky injection and pull 12 inches at the finish line and since I put it on my car have never had to drain anything. Pumps dry, no moisture in oil, best setup IMO.

I put a new vacuum relief on my Moroso pump this winter. Tested the engine in the shop and took a look at the data logger. 28" at idle huh? I guess I should have taken that relief apart when I installed it. Fixed that now. I was surprised I could pull that much. I do drive it a little faster than stock.
