Helping an older gentleman with his race car. He had a problem with the double hump heads he had on it ('57 chevy backhalf car, powerglide, 383"), replaced them with some new AFR's-and no other changes were made. He called me yesterday and says that the car backs up continually. He did nothing to the trans, shifter, cable, anything. Was working fine before. Anyway I went over there today, and sure enough it has reverse in every single gear including park. Park works obviously but it's trying to back up against the park pawl. Ran out of time to mess with it but here I am. I "think" I have an idea what may be going on-and if I'm right, it's purely coincidental. Just wanted to ask y'all before I go further with it.

What do you powerglide experts think?

Rooster is ordered....though we haven't taken it out yet. Car owner lives in a nice residential area with neighbors that don't like other neighbors working on stuff...so it's locked in the garage until the new rooster comes in...at which time we'll do it. I bet that's the issue and honestly was my first suspicion when I seen what it was doing. Car owner has never been into an automatic in all of his 74 years so we'll get to learn something new.

Yep rooster comb broken. There was no "typical" cracking on the pinch point, it was the arm that fits into the manual valve that broke completely off of the rooster comb. I forgot that the valve body had to be dropped out. Wasn't prepared for it but it wasn't a big deal either.

Finished up at 11:45pm last night. Poured fluid back into it, lit the motor off and you should've seen the lights come on at people's houses. Surprised the cops didn't show up.

I will say this. The weather sucks. Heat index at the 8:00 pm when I got there was right at 112; it was 124 earlier in the day. Actual air temp at 11:30 pm was 89. I hate this weather but ain't nothing I can do about it.

Should have waited until this weekend. Better weather is on the way. Glad it’s fixed.

Thought hard about it, but wasn't missing a day of fishing...not in the summertime with LOWER HUMIDITY! They say Crappie are fall/winter/spring fish...NOPE...wore 'em out Sunday and today both. Worked all day Saturday, fished after work until about 2:30am, got a few catfish. Needless to say, the freezer's full.
