I usually have a couple of times slips that I analyze out of a race or races. This is more of a mental recap of the run, besides the normal data written down. This past weekend I had two slips I did this with, one was in the 1st round & the other was in the 2nd round.

I'm going to share the time slip from the 1st round win. This round was against one of the best drivers in the country & I have much respect for his driving abilities. I absolutely love his factory race car & have thought about buying one, different story.

Hope to keep the recap short! I turn into the staging lanes & see my opponent at the head of the staging lanes. I wanted the left lane & took my position next to him. Fast forward, we are both taking our time carefully staging. I release the button & launch with what I determined was a good light; I consider .012 - .014 good. In my peripheral vision I saw nothing but a front-end about 4' in the air. While it was slightly behind me, I couldn't determine or get a feel for his light. Around the 1/8 mile we were pretty much even & feeling each other out. I decided to get rid of a good portion of what I was holding just past the 1/8 mile, with very small throttle adjustments. Around the 1,000' mark, I was slightly off the throttle getting rid of the remainder of what I thought I was holding. Also, at the 1,000' mark we were feeling each other out again, who was going to take or not take the stripe. I decided I wanted the stripe & he decided he didn't; he jumped on the brakes 1st & I did also to tighten up the stripe. The results are in the slip & this is what I enjoy about bracket racing; win or lose.

1st round used to be my hardest to deal with in the past up to 2019. In 2020, I had no 1st round loses, in 2021 I think I might have had one & this year with only 3 races: no 1st round losses. It's amazing what a different outlook will do for you.

Now, I need to put together 8-10 rounds of crushing it for the Thanksgiving races & get a win.

Thanks for the compliments! I still have a bunch of work to do on the car & myself. Smile

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Thanks Curly!

I reviewed my time slips (9) from this past weekend, racing both days. I did notice a nice trend of 1.44x 60's, with four of them being identical. While not impressive for 60' times, we know why they are slow from the data logs. The ECU goes into open loop when TB is applied & on the two-step. My buddy had the same issue & knows how to fix it, he's going to remote tune it; with me putting it on the two-step in the shop. It should help with lowering the 60'.

I did have two 60's out of the 1.44x range. One was a 1.428 & the only thing I can account that for, was a fresh track prep. The 2nd one was not doing a proper burnout after having the water in the water box longer than a top fuel dragster. I guess I should have done a top fuel burnout. Anyway, I must have had water on the right tire & made a hard turn towards the tree & aborted the run.

With a .04 starting line advantage, should there even have been any drama at the finish line? Smile

I'll back it up to the moment in the run, I didn't have all the answers.

1st, I thought I had an .012-.014 light & couldn't determine his light. I assumed from competing against him before & in the Spring Fling Million(s) races in the bottom bulb class. I assumed his light was going to be equal or better than my light.

2nd, I knew what I was holding even though I was .001 quicker than I had predicted & I was .002 under my dial. The other unknown was how much he was holding & I think he was holding more than I.

So, in hindsight the time slip told most of the story. What it didn't tell, was how much he was holding & if it does tell; well, it's above my math skills.

Right or wrong, how I drove the stripe got me a round win! Wink

Hitter should have knew he missed it that bad and all but wrecked the car giving you the stripe.

If I am 40 and holding that much you are getting it no matter what. They make new ET Fronts every day of the week. Razz

I usually don't share slips for various reasons, online or in person. The below slip is not the only one in the 5s & I have about 15 slips. Some quicker & faster, some slower...but all in the 5's. While this doesn't mean much, it's meeting my initial goals for my slower race tune. This is a good middle of the road tune for chasing & being chased; majority of runs I've been chasing. This tune got us our 1st win & 2 checks with our new combo. Plus, it has been taking me deep into the rounds on the other races.

We have found a little time to work on our faster tune & that's my goal the next 4 or 5 races out. I'm wanting this tune to make sure I'm not being chased, but only for rare occasions.

I've been bracket racing for 30+ years & ruffly the 1st half of them years I dialed what I thought it would run. The last half of them years, I'm glad I spent the time/trouble of learning to hold.

The tail end of this year running 10 races in 2 months. Most of my round wins came from holding & driving the stripe. I haven't been consistent with my reaction times this year. Even if I was, I would still be holding. Wink

This was a special run for both of us in the 1/4 finals this past Sun. I've known Kayslee since she was born & I'm good friends with her family. She has come up through the Jr. dragster ranks & only has around 8-10 runs in the big car.

Her dad came up to me in the lanes & asked me to go easy on Kayslee. I started laughing & told him to tell her to go easy on the old man. Well, that girl tried to rip my head off on the starting line. I wish she would have hit the light green.

Anyway, here's the slip; nothing special, but making memories! Cool
