Same here. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

VR1 Valvoline is good stuff gasoline or Methanol. The Kendall green Brad Penn oil is even a little better (zinc). I was just reading Wix oil filters are now made in Mexico so I wouldn't run a Wix if it were free. I haven't bought a oil filter in 25 years anyway though and I'm pretty sure System One is made in USA, or at least 25 years ago they were. I wouldn't buy another System One either if they're not made in USA.

For the OP, this is a System One. I'm changing out an offshore crank for a Callies for a guy and never even bothered to remove the filter housing. The filter cartridge is removed and cleaned, the housing never comes off the block until the block needs bored.

Oil technology is so good today that you can't really find a bad oil. The advantage to the more expensive racing oils only comes into play when you have a problem. If you are using a flat tappet cam then use a good break in oil. Other than that pour in whatever makes you feel good because you can get 50 different answers on oil. I have done my research and have a certain criteria to decide on what I run. You should do the same.

A tall Wix 51794 would be my choice if space permits, they are 8"s tall.

I agree with this. For those that want to see what is actually in off the shelf oil, this website is an excellent resource. http://www.pqiamerica.com/index.html

^^^ Same here, I usually opt for the blue full Synthetic VR-1, which is really hard to find, (Some Autozone stores will carry it, most will order it for you). Only about a buck more per qt than the conventional version.

I use the Wix 51794, it holds 1.5 quarts. I don't know if they make a long filter for Windsor blocks? The ones I buy are still made in the U.S.A.

Whatever you do choose to run, please change the darn stuff once in a while. Big Grin
I am dumbfounded by how many guys will spend $10-25K on a race engine, and leave the same oil in it all season long. Even if you are a regular 1st round duck, that is just stupid.
25-40 rounds is about my limit, depending on 1/8 vs 1/4 mile, number of warm-ups, weather/season, etc.
