6061 is a softer Aluminum and less brittle alloy than the 7075 is. Different horses for different courses. Both may work but one may be better for certain uses.
Engine limiters whether they are on motor plate or transmission have become more important as power levels go up and tires have got better. (worse?)

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

After literally thousands of runs in the last 6 years, I will stick with the steel mid plate in every dragster we have. I WANT the chassis stable in that area of the car that DOES see a ton of flex.

I agree, the engine limiters would eliminate problems if they did crack something else or the mid plate itself.
