All I look for in a generator is the noise level.

Jim,
Look at the generator in the list below, Curt got the 6500 watt one and you hav eto get beside it to hear it run, electric start and the wheel kit. I know it isn't an Onan but it is cheap and works GREAT. I am going to get rid of my Honda and get on elike this, they are quieter than my honda is.

Watch those Chinese generators. Some of them vary the frequency as much as 10-30 Hz. I had one at the shop not long ago (brand new) that was regulated at 165 volts (supposed to be 110-120) and 75hz at 3600 engine RPM.

They're cheap for a reason.

The Company in the ad is local to me As matter Of Fact The founders of the Co lived Rt across the Street from ex wife i bought my generator from there local store in town, but you have a problem it says you have to order from store. And if your in Texas , you got a long trip to Get To A Aubuchon Hardware.

The Chinese OHV engine is no quieter than the Honda OHV engine. I doubt this is any quieter than a Honda, but it sure is cheaper. Remember cheaper is not always better.
Until the OHV engine can be used at less than 3600rpm(like an Onan) noise levels are going to be VERY similar.
My Honda 6500 doesn't seem loud when at the track, but attempt to use it at home, it is loud!

These Chinese generators are fine til they break. One other thing you need to know that you will not want to run anything electrically sensitive with them. (computers, houshold electronics etc) I just serviced 30 generators for the local phone company and they bought 10 of the Chinese cheapo's and have ruined many electrical items with them. From what i understand they send out erratic amounts of power and don't have a "filter".

The only thing to do is bite the $ bullet and buy one of the Honda EU units, lots of power and EXTREMELY quiet.

Cummins-Onan makes Inverter-Generators that are very similar to Honda's EU series. They offer 3200watt and 4300watt models. Both come with wheels, are electric start once you add a small battery and as quiet as a Honda with slightly more output. The 3200 watt unit is on sale for $1429 right now. The comparable Honda EU 3000 sells for hundreds more. We have sold a number of these in both sizes and owners love them and have had ZERO issues with them. There Are tons of Made in China units out there today and they are generally not very reliable and DO cause lots of headaches and aggravation. Repairs are nearly impossible as they have NO parts and service network and since electrical repair shops are few and far between if it fails your going to have wasted your money....
