Google "AGM battery design" for a technical explanation.

The design is more robust, more resistant to harsh conditions, making the AGM style a good race car choice.

For 12 volt system, the Delco Professional AGM is a good battery. For 16 volt, the XS batteries give good service.

I changed mine this spring. Don't know how good they are these days but the Interstates I took out were still working and had been in there since 2007. One of them is now in my pickup.

Many of the AGM batteries are good. I want to give an example of why I would recommend Odyssey batteries.

Recently I let someone borrow my carb to check against theirs. When I got it back I put it back on and turned the power of my car on to fill the bowl. I got distracted and left the power on for a week. My digital dial board comes on with the main power. When I figured out over a week later that the power was still on I checked and the battery showed just under 6 volts.

I fully expected that I had killed it and would have to be buying a new one. This one is just over a year old. I looked at their website and they have a procedure to bring their batteries back from as low as 4 volts. I spent a couple days slowly working it back to fully charged and once I got it back it sat for 24 hours at 12.98 volts. I raced with it a week later and it is working fine.

Maybe this isn't unique to this brand but the flat plate AGM design I believe to be the best design. The one I had before this one lasted 8 years and was working fine in my car when I pulled it out just because I didn't want to have any problems. It is still working great as the tongue battery for my trailer. Sorry for the long winded reply.

batterymart.com had the best price with free shipping.

I have a friend who is an Interstate dealer. What part number did you have and I'll check with him.

This one. Found it cheaper just now also. I'm just a small block car also so I didn't go with their biggest battery.

^^^^^ I have this same Odyssey PC1500DT that Curtis listed in my sbc 13/1. Mines 5 years old now and never been out of the car over winter. Just charge it 1x midway through the down season. Great battery but it is heavy at 49 lbs.

One thing I forgot to add is that all of my batteries. Race car, scooter, tongue battery stay on a Battery Tender maintainer 24/7 when I'm not racing.

I run the large Optima and it has worked well. I also keep a small trickle charger on it between races.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.
