I had a bad string of blow ups in the mid 80's. I ran small blocks and they were mostly all low buck parts pushed to far.....

One had pistons with short skirts and after trying some "creative" ways to slow my car up for S/ST...it broke a thin tool steel wristpin and the piston turned completley sideways in the bore....

then there was the low buck 377 I had that broke a rod bolt in the water...

and then there was the one that blew up in low gear and oil and water came thru the firewall, got on the back tires and I came to within a foot of tagging the wall at E-Town....

None of those sounded like a tire blowout and the broken rod bolt sounded like a hammer blast inside the car.

I gave up on those junk small blocks and built a big block and never broke one after that. A stock big block could take way more abuse.

A couple of absolutes in the World......

There's only 2 kinds of motorcycle riders... the ones that have gone down, and the ones that are going to go down.

There's only 2 kinds of Oldsmobile race motors... the ones that have broke, and the ones that are going to break.

C'mon now.....I kinda like Andy's "outside the box" thinking. It's a fine line between genius and lunacy. And I say that with the utmost respect.

We've all sat around a six pack in the dyno room and said "Hey, what if we tried ........"

The reason we go faster now then last year is because someone didn't listen to the people who said it wasn't possible.

Andy's only fault is his presentation. He can be kind of abrasive. And he should know better then anyone that his way isn't, in fact, the only way. That's not allowing others the "think outside the box" is it?

And SCDIV1, go outside tonight and look up into the sky. With all those ga-zillion star systems out there do you really think there's no Aliens cruising around somewhere in the Universe? Then why not here?

Anyhow, I like "maybe" a lot more then "impossible". Even in Andy's case.Big Grin

KIND OF ABRASIVE? Ya think? Eek!!!!

I never used the word impossible and never said anyone couldn't do or build anything. I only make statements about things I might know or have experience with and throw in a little humor now and then. I like to laugh...You should try it once in a while Dave....Your always all serious and uppity in your posts....

Next time you see a UFO get a picture of it for us will ya? You sound like Carl Sagan.....BILLIONS and BILLIONS of STARS.....

Andy I was just having a little fun.....don't send a ship to come get me!!!!! Big Grin
