got a new to me engine with big chief heads part number 22538816. question is,is there any problems drilling accessory bolt holes on the ends of the heads?

Will probably hit water , so be aware.

We have the same heads and ran into the same problem.. I am going to do my best to mount everything without drilling my motor plates, hope its possible

On this topic, does anyone know what the chamber cc is on these in stock form (or no milling done yet)?

I talked to a buddy of mine than ran that head some years ago last night. Did not want to take a chance and had to mount everything on the front plate.

ive seen several different head places weld bungs on the front of those heads.

Just curious. Do you know somewhat of the history of that head. Meaning re rolled to an 11.5 or a 12** Say from the original 14**??
