Does anyone have any expierence with Performance Bearing? Thinking about using the front bearings and possibly axle bearings. Has anyone made this change and did it show any gains ET or MPH wise?

Thanks
Jr

I've been interested in this also. I have been tossing around alot of small efficeinces that will add up to something. You will probably not find much interest from bracket racers.

Mike we are going to possibly try them. Like u said we are looking at every small item weight wise/rotational... Every little thing counts. Just want to TD race with 1 carb no adders & know we are qualifying unless we have issues, when we show up..

What other ideas are u throwing around?

I remember last year aat PRI that Lindsey Racing Wheels had ceramic bearings that they were selling with their stuff. Not sure what brand but you may give them a call if you got questions.

We put spoked wheels on the FED and used ceramic bearings...The Weld wheels with standard tapered roller bearings would spin by hand for about seven seconds. The spoked wheels with the ceramics will easily spin for 30+ seconds with the same effort.

I don't think you will see a noticeable benefit from that upgrade alone, but like a prior post said, lots of small improvements will add up to something.

V, I assume you're already runnin' a low drag 3rd member assy such as Dewco? Some pretty good gains there but a bit pricey.

Question, since you're looking for every gain do you run carbon brakes? I know they're not brake racing friendly...

When I went away from my spoke wheels and into a set of gold magnums for the front of my dragster, it was for the shear purpose of looks. I really didn't understand how much they where really worth until I sold them and started gathering more data as time rolled on.

In understanding the tappered bearing vs. a ball bearing, the differential in resistance is emense. I know for a fact that it adds up over 1320 feet of track.

My findings are consistant of the time spent spinning between the two when tested, as Jesse mentioned, but I never thought down the track would really make that difference. I would say there is about .015-.017 of et.

I have 9 years of data gathering on my dragster.

Ultra low friction synthetic wheel bearing grease or even Lubriplate motor assembly grease. Be sure to keep an eye on them if you use the latter.

What kind of money are these ceramic bearings? I see the optional ceramic bearings for the pinion support from MW are $495, so I'd like to see some other costs.

Front wheel bearings and rear axle bearings are 700.00. If you want to replace the bearings in the third member that is an additional 1200.00.

Seems high but when your looking for that little extra. It may be just whats needed to qualify. That or a Blue Bottle......

Was at a trade show yesterday in Mass. and talked to several cermaic manufacturing companies. The prices of the parts to make these bearings are really not much. He showed me some rollers and ball bearings which would cost about $2.00 for a bag of 50. Looks like some very good profit on these parts.
