ProFox Racing Suits

I’m looking at purchasing THIS 2 piece 3.2-A/5 drivers suit and want to know if any others are using ProFox and their opinion of this suit.

I've had my -15 for 6 years and plan to buy a -5 for my wife soon. The pants faded a little but the jacket still looks nearly new. Very comfortable.

I've had mine about 7 years now and love it. It's the most comfortable suite I've ever owned. Call lou at pro fox hes great to deal with, hes also a sponsor of mine, his seat belts are great to.

I used that suit for 5 years. The pants faded and the fit of the pants was a little funny for me but otherwise they were ok. But there is no comparison to something like the Sparco sport light pro stuff. When folding the profox pants they still want to stand up on their own. The Sparco stuff folds flat like a pair of jeans.

I met strictlybiz at englishtown a couple years back. Pretty sure he has the SFI-15 suit and that seemed even softer than the 5.

One thing I can’t recommend is their SFI 5 gloves. After two years the SFI tag fell off. I called pro fox and told the owner what happened and he happily sold me another pair for full price, $70. 2 years later I had the same problem, so now I’m using a glove that’s almost half the price and no problems so far.

If money is tight the pro fox stuff is fine but the Sparco stuff is certainly superior. You can get it at Biondo with a racer discount.

You may want to look into Pro1 suits, they are very light and nice. The pants have belt loops which is a nice feature not others I have seen have.
Their gloves are very comfortable and easy to use.
I have not tried the ProFox suits but have experience with several other brands and the Pro1 right now is best out there in my opinion and decent price to.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I have that exact suit. I have had it for 6 or 7 years. I really like the jacket. The have a tall version that I got because I have long arms. The pants have been fine but I wish I had gotten the tall version of them also. They have an elastic waist which after all this time has gotten a little loose but I expected it after this many years. I did have to have my jacket zipper replaced a couple years ago. It was a quality zipper I think it was just one of those things that happens. I got Nomex thread from ProFox for the tailor to use when sewing in the new zipper.

One thing to consider when you hear a comment about the weight of this suit. It has a TPP rating 27.7 and the minimum for 3.2A/5 is 19. They will be a little heavier than say the Pro-Light Sparco but offer better protection. I trade the little bit of comfort difference for the protection and I have worn one of the top name suits to compare. To each their own on that. I believe them to be a great value though.

See, I would think anyone buying a fire suit like this would be a racer. Does Sal and Peter think these will be purchased for Halloween? HMMMM

I think the discount is for NHRA members only. Maybe that’s why the no prep guys never have all their gear on Big Grin

Bought the tall jacket for arm length as well. It is -5 nomex and is very comfortable. Looks new after 1st yr. so time will tell. Getting pants from them as well once current ones are worn out.

Not ProPox...but since Sparco has been brought up. Anyone use their Jade series?
My issue with any of them is the fact I'm bigger in diameter than the length of my legs, so I have to buy for a 6 ft plus dude when my legs are only 28 inches...lol
