Always look forward to reading Rich's posts. Lots of good information in there about generators and such.

Glad you're hanging in there Rich.

Not to mention the tragic loss of another right thinking American good guy.

You think the Onan service providers are swamped now.......holy crap!

My longtime friend Ted Razmus passed away last Friday. We were great friends for over 40 years
He helped my many times and visited me regularly all those years. He helped many other people as well
There is NO way I would have won the single National Event I won without his help and his carburetor !!
We raced together and did many other things together and with others for all those years
Cancer sucks !!!

Apparently someone got their info wrong and said I passed away

I am alive and well, very well actually today and already fixed a 4KY Onan that is 23 years old...

Ed and I had a good phone conversation just now so he knows I'm fine

I feel so good today I am wishing I didn't sell all my stuff and if this keeps up there could be a lot of other stuff sitting in my empty driveway but that's probably not really gonna happen anytime soon...

Lets talk about Onan generators

I tried to order a 7KW gas Onan Commercial Mobile unit for a customer a few days ago

The price is now almost 2 grand higher than maybe a year or 2 ago and lead time is 42 weeks !!!!

I looked into getting a replacement Inverter/Control assembly for an Onan 7.5 diesel last week for a Snap On tool dealers truck

There are none available and they part is now "built to order" and lead time is not even a known thing they can quote ...6 months- 9 months ? The parts specialist I speak to has no idea.....

This is direct from Cummins/Onan

Glad to hear that info was incorrect and you're feeling good, Rich! Also sorry for the loss of your friend.

I thought my QD7500 might have been dead, with a Governor Actuator error. Figured out that a wire connector had broken off the top of the Governor Coil. No parts of course.

About a week later I happened to look and Cummins actually had the part! Ordered the Coil/Stator and a new rotor, but haven't had the opportunity to change it out yet. I also still need some exhaust parts for it, which are never available, but at least it will run.

One of those wire ends broke on a friends unit not long after I did some work on it I think

He had to pull it out again just to fix that. Fixed front mount in a diesel pusher

Another friend had one break a starter wire not long after a big repair....that one was easier to get out but still no fun...

Diesels break stuff from the vibration

The same engine used in welders breaks all kinds of stuff.....3600 rpm in those machines.....Kubota 4 banger...

Lesson learned from most everyone I have spoken to with a diesel generator on their motorhome is...don't use it! Get a portable gas powered generator to run the coach. Still waiting on my Honda EU7000is. It's been 6 months and no one knows when they are getting them.

I agree with that, and that's what I do at the track. When I discovered my QD was dead, I was towing 14 hours in 100 degree heat and wanted to run the roof air for my family.

Most are saying they are 8 months behind.

to the best of my knowledge, no one in the country has them or can tell me when they will. My name is on two retailers lists for two units.
