Has anyone run the Hoosier 18372 15-33-15s, if so what was your experience with that tire? I am thinking of switching to the Hoosier. This year I used the M/T 3080 on my roadster, the tire hooked fine and was fairly consistent. The issue I had with the tire was, after 71 passes the sidewall was done. The car started to get a little inconsistent and would move around down track. When I dismounted the tire the sidewall just collapsed. My car is a 1960lb roadster 54% on the rear, with a small block running between 5.25 and 5.30 depending on weather, average 60' is 1.13. 15x15 wheels double bead locks, 4.29 gear,112" wheelbase, 4-link, strut. I have owned 3 other roadster and have had good luck with the M/Ts but I ran the 16x32x15s on those, this car needs a taller tire than that. None of my other roadsters have hit the tire as hard as this car. 4-link is currently 47" out and 6.5" high.

I will have to check the number on the hoosier I was running before I switched to the 3080. I think that one is it.
Bad to hear that the 3080 went away so quickly. I was hoping that would be a good 15" for me.
I switched because the Hoosier would shake on my car anything under 1.07 sixtys, or would at least sometimes. The 3080 is more forgiving for that. For 1.13 short times, I think that Hoosier would be a great tire for you. I'm going to be using them on my son's car this season.

Do you think the 18400 16x33 stiff wall Hoosier might be a better option if you are beating up the sidewalls? You can get it in D05, D06 and C07

Curtis, I will take a look at the specs on that tire too. I was looking at the 15x33x15s because it is supposed to be stiffer than say, the 14.5x32 Hoosier and it has a little harder compound than the 14.5. Has anyone experienced a tire that is too stiff, at my roadsters weight or E.T.?

The 14.5x33 is a lightweight tire. At your 60' the 18400 might last longer. My roadster is heavier and 4 tenths slower and a footbraker so I get tons of passes with the 18250 so I'm not really a good comparison but I would check into that stiff tire.

That is interesting I have ran the MT tires for a long time now and they last really well. My cars run 4.90 -5.0x at 1750 Lbs. I run the 3074 on the Altered and the 10.5W x 32 on the Front Engine Dragster good results with both. As we were talking about in another thread maybe there is a different tire that works better for that car.
I have a friend that runs Hoosier 15-33-15 but I do not know if it is the 18372 tire and he runs 5.35 to 5.50 so that is not apples to apples for you. I do know they have lasted very good for him.

Curly, I agree, I have had really good luck with the M/T tires in the past. The 16x32 would go 130 passes no problem on my other roadsters. I would try that tire on this car but the rollout is just a little short. Maybe my current tire just isn’t a good tire for “my” car.

Have you videod the car to see if it is smashing the tire really hard and or extending the shocks a lot at the hit?

Unfortunately I don’t have any video, all I have are still photos. In the still shots it doesn’t appear to be wadding the tire excessively. It’s difficult to tell how much it’s separating.

JAFR,the 18372 is the tire I have on my door car.It is a really stiff sidewall tire and works great and sidewalls last with these.I ran the Mickey 3080 before these,you're right the sidewall went away pretty quick.My 60 is only 1.10-1.11 but my car weighs 2550 race ready.I had a suspended altered before this car and wish the 18372 had been out then,it worked best(and no shake) with the 3080.Oh,and they work best with 7lbs. of air.

Dtye,thanks for the information. That’s what I’m looking for, information from someone who is or has run the Hoosier and the M/T. Like I said earlier the M/T worked, it just went away quick.

The 18372 is a newer version of the 18370 and is much stiffer and is D06 compound instead of D05. I had tried Hoosiers and they shook really bad, I was lucky enough to get a couple sets of the 18372 while in testing and they would not shake on my car.

Inferno Camaro, how did they hook for you? how much does your car weigh? E.T.? It sounds like a good tire, now my only concern is, will the sidewall be too stiff?
Dtye, 7lbs. with the Hoosier? I was running 7.25 in the 3080 M/T

I was running the 3080 and it is a never ending fight to get a matched pair so that was why I tried the Hoosier. I back to backed them 3 times and the Hoosier was .01 and .4 mph quicker on average. The Mickey's seemed slightly more consistent but I didn't adjust the car to that tire. With that said I just mounted a new set of the Hoosier 18372's for this season and will be sure I maximize the car to that tire and plan to run it from here on. My car weighs 2400lbs with me in it and has been a best of 4.96 @ 139 with 1.08 60'.

This was this summer and I have since gotten beadlocks and made a 4 link adjustment to be a little easier on the tire, this was 6.8psi.

Oakley 174x sniper aluminum 632 here, single carb methanol. Can't find a better shop or family to deal with.

Curly1 I run 7.25 in the M/T tires.
I spoke with Chris Barker yesterday, he suggested running the 18370 15x33 Hoosier. he thinks the sidewall might be a little too stiff on the 18372. I respect his opinion since he sells Goodyear, M/T, and Hoosier. Chris also said if the sidewall on the 18370 was a little soft I could put a tube in it to stiffen it up some.
Dtye and Inferno you guys are making some good power, Oakley has his program figured out for sure. I'm making about half of that, my stuff is just light, a little over 1900lbs. I just have a 421 small block. I appreciate your guys responses.

That is why I asked about tire pressure, no matter the brand if the sidewall is going away too fast then may be hitting tire too hard and or low tire pressure.
