Anyone have a fix for a leaking pump? Pump is about 3 years old and has sat since last October... I thought someone on here said something about rebuilding them... Really though this pump would of lasted longer.. Probably has less then 100 runs total being on the car.. I can buy a new pump for 287 or send them mine and they will rebuild it for 150... 150 for a dam seal ugggg

I am running the Maziere remote pump and the first one failed and they wanted to charge more to repair it than it cost to buy a new one from Summit. I was not happy or impressed. I know everyone hates the CSR but I had really good results with mine and never had a problem until I went to Maziere.

With all that said Green1 on here may be able to help you.

I have heard in the past to turn them on and let them run and the seal may reseal. It is a ceramic seal. I have replaced a few of them and could walk you through it if you want and even have a plate here for installing new seal so you don’t stretch and tear the rubber bellow. Pm me and I will give you a few details.

At Least you're not all alone (sarcasm). Man I can promise you I'm not getting in that $500 sinking boat. I'd suggest you buy a drive and housing but who knows if that would turn out to be a bad idea as well, now that everything is made in China. I think I might comb swap meets for an old drive and pump housing. Good luck Brother, I can dig it you're ticked, I don't blame ya.

You can purchase the motor seal assembly from Summit or Jegs and repair yourself. https://www.summitracing.com/p...mez-wp351u/overview/

Bruce that’s the whole motor chunk you listed. The seal wasn’t listed last time I looked. The Meziere part number for seal is WPO6C.

Typical seal and bearing repair on this style pump (100 series) is around $100, $150 is if it need a new motor.
When pumps sit for long time they will leak when you first start them up. You need to run them for 30 continuous minutes. This will often stop the leak. This is typical of most water pump even stock belt driven pump.

You can expect to get a small drip every once in awhile with water pumps. The seal is a ceramic on ceramic seal and uses the coolant to keep the seal from overheating. This is why you should never run the pump dry for more than a couple of seconds.

Meziere Tech.
Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

WP06C - is the old seal part number, We had to change the seal in 2016. The OD and install height changed a little. We still have some WP06C in stock for repairs and we can also modifiy the water pump front plate to take the new seal. The water pump shaft didn;t ned to be changed.

I have a Meziere pump on a SBC that is about 15 years old. I noticed that after it is not run for several weeks a few drops of water leaks out of the weep hole. Based upon whet Leg1 says, I am just going to watch it to see if it remains a minor problem or requires repair. I have never had a problem with this pump.

You do not even need to start the engine and get it up to temp, You can just run the pump by itself. No need to wast race gas.

I would trust what he said and believe me Meziere is belt far the best pumps that I have worked on. You could put a zero on the back side of the number of their pumps I have fixed then add a hundred to that number to get close to the number of CSR motors I have fixed. And no I don’t have any ties to Meziere but yes I have one of their pumps on my motor.

I was just telling my wife over the weekend that I've had the same Meziere pump on my dragsters since roughly 2004. I've had it re-anodized once but never replaced any part of it.

I know that'll change now that I've brought it up.

I’ve used the same Meziere water pump since the late 1990’s. I ran it on my 468 then my 540 and now on my 582 it has never failed me, it’s never leaked.

From what I can tell by my experience Meziere could possibly make too good of a product. I bought mine used in 2005 and have been running it since. I do always run some kind of pump lube in my water.
