Hello All
Just changed the center section in my car.
Was wondering if anyone knows the correct amount of gear oil to put in it, with out pulling the plug in the center section?
I have heard 2, I have heard 3. Which is it?
Thanks inadvance

2 works for me. Fresh gears I'd put regular gear oil and change it after a couple of weeks.

Our new miller had more than 3 in it before it started running out. Talked with Ray and Ray JR and both said just put 2 quarts in it. the hole is relational if you are in a standard housing. If it is a dragster 2-2.5 is plenty. I would call the manufacturer of the housing (if aftermarket), if it is stock just pull the plug and do it the old fashion way.

Good for you ed I only did it to be sure beings I never ran a ford rear before and got too much money in it to be burning it up. I really don't give a sh1t how fast your 60' is or if it would go faster with less I just want durability.

It varies slightly with the shape and size of the housing you have, however on average 2-2.25 quarts is what most will take until it just starts coming out the plug in the side of the center section. Mine takes 2.25 quarts.

I've got $500 that says green1 driving his tunnel ram/dual carb POS with 4 quarts of gear lube in the rear would be a 1st round runner up in Super Pro on a Summit ET Points day at Numidia.

Now all he has to do is show up and we know he won't! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Why would Green1 want to drive that far just to stand in line with you at the buy back window? Laughing Rolling

I can 1 up Ed. I have been 1.0_ 60 ft. with absolutley no rear end fluid. Gear oil is way overrated.

Not all rear housings are the same some have much large capacity than others. You need enough to lubricate and cool the gears in the housing they are in.
In mine I run about 2 quarts and have got well over one thousand passes many with 1.0x 60 foot. I may be able to pick up a few pennies with a lighter oil and less of it but I do not need it. Last time I had it out gears looked good.
