Ok. I have been reading through some of the threads on here regarding info on TBS 250. I am looking for opinions on other factors when bolting one on.

Old Setup

09 M&M 565 Ron's single Terminator high 4.60 / low 70"s

Slack Converter Launch 4600 Flash to 6900 shift @ 7400 Drop back to 6900 finish line 7500 rpm

M/T 3183 Tire & 4.30 Gear

New Setup

2021 M&M 582 Ron's Single Terminator ( Same Motor combo just fresh bottom end with new crank )

Converter is the same

Hoosier 34.5 1550 tire & 4.10 gear

I was planning on keeping the 4.30 gear with the taller tire. My 3183 were like 105. These new Hoosiers are like 110 but after deciding to do the blower setup I thought maybe it would makeup for the RPM difference of the tires. Also curious about the Looseness of the Converter. I am going to call Greg about it. Just curious about others opinion on this & launch rpm. Do you think the 4.30 is still ok to use. Only really looking at 3-4 LBS of boost with the blower setup. Im not looking for Max effort at all.

In my case i was running low 4.80s high 70s. N/a flash was 6100-6200. With the blower flash is 6900-7100 depending what top pulley is bolted on. 4.30 is probably okay with the tall tire but if you're similar to stall gains as mine or others i've spoke with you'll need to do something there.

I launch at 3800 currently, have tried higher (4200) but saw no et gains.

You can leave the 4.30 gear and whatever tire you chose as long as the converter is tight enough to make the trip. The current vibe in the converter world with these 250 blowers and even 1000+ HP NA seems to be flash to 6900/7000 shift 7400/7500 cross 7400/7500+. I have tried 2 of these style converters one NA and one on a BDS 250 blown 598 BBC's. I don't like the approach taken with the really lose converters. They seem slow (lost 5 MPH and nearly a tenth on my 598/250 combo, 4 link miller, 9" abruzzi vs the TS 10").

I'd get something that flashes to 6400/6500 range, shift 7300, even if you are 155+ MPH you'll be 7400RPM or lower if the converter is efficient enough up top. My 10" TS northstar converter is snug down low (flash to 6100 no timing retard, fall back to 6200) and at 155 MPH mine was only 7300 RPM with a 4.30 gear 34.5 tire is all i run but have tried the 33.5 little bubbas with similar results. The 9" abruzzi flashing to 6900 crossed at 7500+ with 4.11 gears, was slower ET, and lost 5 MPH. The 9" needs to be tightened but still i think it will be slower than a losened 10".

The recommended rear gear for the TBS 250 on these BBC combos is 4.11, but i wouldn't get all excited about swapping gears till you have tried it out a couple times. You may find the 4.30 is just right. I'm going back to my 10" TS and a 4.30 gear, 34.5 tire when i get back to racing later this year.

What he said....mine leaves like a slug, usually high 1.04 to mid 1.05 (been 1.035 once) going 4.44-4.45 @ 157-158 @ 2200'-2500' DA. Really think if it was tighter it would be faster down low and more mph.

Ok. I did talk to Greg Slack this morning about my converter he built a couple years ago. He pretty much echoed what you guys have said. He suggested a 10" as well

582 BB3 headhunter, 2100 Diamond dual suspended, 4.10 rear, big bubba, 4200 launch, taking 5 degrees for 1.5, 4.46@158 1.025, 2.88 330ft. Abruzzi 06YAT 9". Shift at 7700 falls back to 6700 crosses 1/8th at 7350. This is with a bufco top, with a APD carb, 33 pulley, made 1234 at 7000 (stopped pulling it there) on Wilson's Dyno. Motor is deadly consistent and runs well. Short shifting it the car slows down a little in mph but quite a bit in ET, picking up the shift goes parallel the other way.

I am happy with the setup as it is, could put the 31 pulley on it but no need. I will say putting all the timing in and running it with no retard on the starting line gave ZERO performance increase at 60, 330 or finish line, was within .001 all the way down the track back to back.

One warning, don't ever get one of these baby blowers if you don't want to keep it forever, LOL.

How much total timing are you running?
How much boost do you get with 33 pulley?
Also, how much slower is a quite a bit when short shifting?

most likely tore up an intake lobe when an exhaust rocker broke...what sort of cam profiling are you guys running? Currently at .824/.824 285/312 @.050 114 lobe sep, installed at 110. Always thought maybe a little aggressive.
