my old door car...Mustang II style front, 9" rear. Has Aerospace drag brakes on all four corners. 4 piston on the rear 2 piston on the front both fixed mount non-floating calipers. Late in the fall of 2019 I had the car in the shop for normal servicing and noticed the right front caliper was sticking, couldn't turn the wheel. That's the second or third time that's happened. Ordered an o-ring kit, disassembled the caliper completely and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Wrote it off as a swelled o-ring that I couldn't measure accurately with calipers. Test drove around the block and it was fine. A week later, car still on jackstands, the caliper was stuck again. No pressure in the bleeder when loosened, it was just stuck. Called Aerospace, really didn't get anywhere other than "it's got water in it or it's not square". Well it's square, within .002", and the fluid is flushed twice a year. Replaced the caliper with a new one and after a test drive around the block it has been fine, until this past week.

Well I didn't get to race this past year with me having covid twice, family deaths, career changes, etc. Car's back in the shop now and I'm going to race this year. Right front caliper is sticking again. Can't turn the wheel. Has not been raced. The caliper has not even been hot yet. I think this is the 4th caliper I've had to replace and I'm tired of dealing with Aerospace "engineers" (or that's what I was told I was connected to during the phone call), which give me the same answer every time, as if they're in a hurry to get me off the phone.

You guys got any ideas? Really don't want to have to spend a bunch of money on all new brakes but if I have to I will, but certainly won't use Aerospace. I have no idea what could be causing this to recur? Very frustrating.

Aside from that amazingly helpful response, if you aren’t going to buy a different brand here is what I would do.

I would pull it apart and start by doing some measuring, looking at surface finishes, shape of the o-ring grooves and just simply see if anything sticks out. The grooves may be causing the o-ring to bind in the bore. I have never had one of their calipers apart so I really can’t say, just giving you some ideas.

at this point, the OP isn't a victim, rather a willing participant to the fucing he is getting.

Sell that garbage and buy Strange if Mark Williams isn't in the budget.

Brakes are pretty much the most important thing on the car. You can always make the car go faster, you get one chance to stop.

Take Ed’s advice on this one and save your money and try to buy some Mark Williams brakes. I’m pretty cheap on some things, brakes aren’t one of them. Good luck with whatever you pick!

Mark Williams on my car as well, never an issue. The one time I did have Aerospace calipers I wasn't real impressed.....

Just because they are shiny doesn't make them a good product. I've toured the shop. While it's been a long while ago it appears that they make chips and they make them fast. Tool marks in bores and all. Maybe they can be honed but damn....why bother. Also the crappier the bores the more likely to rock a piston and get stuck. So you can run MW stuff way down on pad and not have an issue. Not so with Aero

Aerospace headquarters is a couple miles from my driveway, I haven't visited the place since the day they gave me the Aerospace brakes on my Nova, in 2001.

I bought a couple sets a brake pads from ART for them. Other than that, they've performed flawlessly.

Would I run Aerospace brakes on a Pro Mod, no. If Mark Williams gave me brakes for all four corners would I run them, sure, but I wouldn't buy anything to replace what I already have, which works fine apparently.

If you run big mph, on a track with a short down, I'd suggest Strange or Mark williams from the get go. Other than that OP, you either have other issue's, or just bad luck.

The only track in Florida with a short shutdown was Lakeland, they're closed permanently.

They stop fine, stopping isn't the problem, heat in the rotor is the problem, stopping short shutdown big mph..

I have to be with retow on this. I to have the same set up as op. mustang 2 front same brakes around mine. I have had no issues except replacing rear rotors every few years. are other brands nicer and better. sure. but I have had 0 issues with aerospace. can drag the front bumper if need be.

Could be front hose is collapsed. Will let high pressure fluid in but not out. Hard to tell just looking and hard to test for. If the hoses are old just put new ones on.

we had new aerospace brakes on a dragster once ...biggest pile of garbage we ever owned... alway dragging, leaking, poor fit .. just a mess . avoid at all costs ... even free is way too much ...we replaced them with Mark Williams and they have been great for years .......

I have had aerospace brakes on my monza for probably 15 years without any issues at all. Bought rebuild kits just to have but never used them. Never had one hang up either. They are still there but the car is sitting on blocks in my shed so I am sure they are messed up now.
I had been 158 mph and not use the parachute and stopped fine.
