An exciting time was had by all that attended the O’Reiley Auto Parts Thunder Jam Presented by the U.S. Air Force on Saturday October 3rd!
The Cool Bus made spectacular runs down the track going over 70 mph on the rear wheels, The Space Machine Jet Funny Car beat the Thriller Jet Dragster in the first ever race between the two jet cars and the show was highlighted by 20,000 horsepower The Extreme Machine Jet Semi throwing 50 foot flames out the back and running down the 1/8 mile at over 160 mph!!!
Door slammer action also wowed the crowed as Real Street and Stock Suspension took to the Playground for Power with the following results:
Real Street saw number 1 qualifier Rick Losee, (5.41 ET / 130.36 MPH) run the gambit and took the final round win running 5.38 ET / 128.46 MPH / .460 RT over number 3 qualifier Mike Freeman, (5.68 ET / 129.46 MPH) as Freeman lost traction and coasted to the finish line for the runner up. In the semi’s Freeman defeated number 5 qualifier Tom Brown as Miller had a legal bye to the final round. Low ET, Rick Losee, 5.35 in round 3, Top Speed John Baessell, 131.16 MPH in round 1.
Stock Suspension also saw number 1 qualifier Greg Trotta (5.22 ET / 140.67 MPH) run the circuit as he defeated Mel Nelson number 3 qualifier (5.71 ET / 102.58 MPH). Trotta running 5.20 ET (low for the event) 140.36 MPH to take the win light as Nelson lost traction and coasted through for runner up. In the semis Trotta got the win over number 5 qualifier Stephen Pitzel and Nelson got the win over number 2 qualifier Big Lo Graham. Top speed, Greg Trotta 139.58 MPH in round 1.
On October 24th Immokalee Regional Raceway presents the Halloween Classic Race with $1,200 to win Combo and Sportsman and $200 to win for Jr. Dragster. Gates open 3pm. Fireworks after the race!!
