If these tracks are close in distance to you,be happy.

I used to think racing in Pro Et at Rt 66 for $1,000 to win didn't make much sense either.

Now,the track is closed and gas will be $5 a gallon in no time.

In order to increase payouts, entry fees probably need to rise or car counts increase.

At the moment, I don't see which of those scenarios would pan out the best.

Indeed. Insisting on our local tracks operating at a loss isn't sustainable. Of all the money we spend to do this sport, the entry fees and perhaps reduced payout are the least of my concerns.

Maple Grove has been for sale for at least 2 decades. Buy it, up the payouts and lose as much money as you chose.

Doesn't matter what the payout is, 75% - 80% of the racers at ANY event go home with ZERO. Racing doesn't make financial sense, PERIOD. You either enjoy racing, or you don't.

EXACTLY, all we are doing is turning $ into noise.

Racers hate $ and that’s why we burn it.

Very few of you would race around here then if those payouts bother you.

I would be interested in poll results if tracks went to trophy only. With your logic, why should they payout anything?

Your poll results would demonstrate what we already know - that many racers show up at the track each week thinking they have a much better chance of making money than they really do.

And few do and typically the same few at every track. Sly is correct.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the only thing available to win was a trophy, it wouldn't change one thing about the way I approach bracket racing. And one more thing. If all the money collected from b*ybacks was subtracted from the purse, in exchange for ending b*ybacks, I'd be even happier than I already am. And I'm already pretty darned happy. Smile Take care. If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.
