A few years ago, not long, I bought a pair of Simpson single layer gloves. They came apart after a year or so. I noticed that they were made innnnnn China. Imagine that, Cadillac prices for offshore products.

Today, I got a pair of RJS single layer gloves for exactly half the price of the Simpsons. They're made right here in the U.S. (I been to the RJS facility) Nice gloves, too. Fit well and the leather palm covers the entire palm sewed into the upper not applicad (SP) on.

I get the lower price idea. What I resent is being charged top dollar because a company has a "name" only to find the product doesn't match the reputation.

Just thought I'd share that with you.

Bruce, this could be a great topic of discussion on corporate greed, union bash and so on.
How is it that a major branded company, that bears the name of a safety pioneer (Bill Simpson) has to off shore the production of their product and still charge the premium price?
How can a company such as RJS build the same product here in the USA using some sort of american labor and still sell the product for less?
I have not had a pair of Simpson gloves for many years nor have I ever owned a pair of RJS so I can't make any statement on the differance in quality, if any between the two brands.

Any comments, ideas?

I've got a custom made Simpson jacket and pants I bought in Vegas a couple of years ago. It fits great and delivery was just a couple of weeks. I wonder where that nomex came from.

I'm a long time user of RJS products. I've never had any other belts. Up nawth I lived 1/2 hour away from RJS and I could get my belts redone on the spot. Here it's cheaper just to buy a new set like I just did.

Bruce: when I first started racing back in the mid 80's "Simpson" was the manufacture of choice... Now the only thing Simpson I use is thier helmets because I still get a deal on them...

I have RCI belts in my car, and RCI sfi-5 suit for me, My sons Jr. had Crow belts, and RaceQuip suit. RCI is another great company to deal with, as is Crow. Sent my sons belts (camlocks for the Jr.) back and within two weeks had the re-certified belts delivered back to us all for only $40.

Getting ready to replace mine this year, not sure IF I want to send them out and re-certify them or just replace them... I really didnt run much last year and the belts are like new...

I think years ago when Simpson really got its name they were one of the few companies out there selling quality products, but like anything else... someone else buys it out and finds any way they can to save a few $$$ and boost profits..

Bought Sparco gloves from Biondo this year. Best glove i've had. Ringers were good but hard to find and my Simpson's never lasted more than 1 year.
