D) All of the above. I do my best to not let anything get in my head. I go when I an ready. I prefer not to sit in line idling, so I would say I am usually in the quarter to first half of total cars. Good bench racing question. Curious to see the answers. In the final analysis we should all be very very grateful we can ponder such thoughts. Racing is a blessing and I am privileged to participate.

Mid pack. I prefer to be neither first nor last. I don't want to be first because I don't want to be the track's "guinea pig." You know, the one who finds out the tree was set wrong from the last pair or the glue that was just sprayed is still quite wet. I don't like to be last because I don't feel like dealing with determining who is going to get what lane, right up until we reach the front of the line. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Depends:

Am I doubling in two cars, am I doubling in one car or only racing one entry? Doubling, I go up early and late. Singled, I go up late, as I get a better idea of what to dial from listening to what other people are doing.

Down here, heat is an issue...I try to wait a bit so I won't be cooking like a Christmas turkey in the staging lanes when the heat index is 109*...from November to April I go up in the middle of the pack more likely...

When they call my class or run color I check my hand held weather station and sometimes my log book, check the rear tires for enough air and head out. I almost always take the shortest line in first round in staging lanes. If I know the majority of the field is going Left, I’ll go Right. Then I’ll stay in that lane. Initial lane choice isn’t a priority for me.

Depends for me I go when I am ready to. Sometimes thats close to the front other times is closer to the back. Just depends on my mood and the situation. If it is later in the day and and or we are being paired up I am usually there before my opponent is. However at divisional races not as quickly for sure.

I just do my deal which is to check the air, then check the air in my tires. If it's really hot I put the ice packs in my cooler and load it for my coolvest. Then I go. Wherever I am I am.

I can tell you when Fern goes because it's the same time I go. For some reason he is following me to the lanes. Laughing Hard

It doesn't matter when I go up for the next round, it doesn't matter who I run in the next round regardless of their reputation, I just showed up to race! I've lost to some of the worst racers in America and beaten some of the best.

My next meal and where I sleep isn't dependent on winning one single round, I'm there is have fun with my Race Family.

It depends on the class order and if my buddies are double entered. I just try to avoid them at all costs so we can meet/race, hopefully in the final. I can be first or last or in the middle, doesn't matter to me.

I try not to run the guys I pit with, so we'll decide who goes up early and who goes up later. Otherwise I just go up there whenever I'm ready and choose the shortest lane. Duck hunting is for losers, and trying to decide oh I want to race this guy or don't want to race that guy just gets in your own head and detracts from focusing on doing your job (at least for me).

You have to be able to beat anyone and everyone in the lanes if you're gonna win.

At a race that allows double entries I try to get up there soon enough to not have to run somebody who just went down the track but otherwise I am usually late because I can’t hear the PA.
