Fine line between crazy and passionate.
Even those who do this for a living, choose to do THIS. There are more sure fire ways to support your family. But few are more fun.

I like the money. It makes me want that win even more. But more than anything, I know that other competitors WANT that money too, and are bringing their A game to get it. So giving them a ***** slap and taking that away from them when they are bringing their best is really doing something. I'm not into gambling. But I am into competing. And going fast is a rush.

I’d still like to win a Wally. Been doing this for 53 years and never won one. Who knows, maybe it’s just not meant to be. HMMMM

Not as crazy as "Sportsman Golfer's " talk about spending money with absolutely no return.

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

Big Steve - I agree with you. A blown motor in a Top Dragster has to be expensive..

I bracket race only because I enjoy it. Take all the purse money away and I'd still do it. Test and tuners do it for no money. Does that make them crazy? If folks didn't enjoy bracket racing for no money at all, it simply wouldn't have ever gotten started. In a relative sense, significant purses are a new development. And yet, many now say they wouldn't do it without those larger purses.

Another thing to consider is that folks who keep right on doing it in spite of never winning a nickel are what keeps these big purse deals feasible. There is actually a very small percentage at the top who win, it's the majority who keep on donating their entry fees who makes it all go. They have never, and more than likely never will, actually win a nickel. The numbers just don't work without them...just like in Las Vegas. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Yes its crazy "but it keeps me from going insane" to quote Waylon.

Crazy aside, someone who can get through 3 to 400 cars and get a healthy check for it has done something pretty special.

You only have to beat 8--10 to get the big check. The rest don't matter.

True, but 1 out of 400 does sound a little more impressive than 1 out 40.

Drag racers crazy, that's a dumb question. Its expensive, time consuming, usually hot, a lot of minor personal injury (busted, skinned knuckles, bruised everything) not to mention hard on relationships. I LOVE IT. I've raced for over 50 years and will not quit (until death). Also, remember this, drag strips, bars, casinos and strip clubs and wives have one goal, separate you from your $$$$$$$$$$$.

I think I'm crazy when I go racing and it's 100 ++ degrees but then if I didn't love the competition and the people I wouldn't do it. It's an addiction. Racers are my family and also racing is a stress relief. Yes I spend too much money but when I'm old and can't do much anymore I'm going to have stories to tell instead of I just worked all my life and have lots of money. Give me happiness and memories over money any day.

Heck yea we are!

Besides, I could have spent the last 31 years of Saturday's in a bar or strip club with nothing but a hangover to show for it or I could have the big checks, trophies and Ironmen that I can tell my grand kids about one day!
