Terrible day for drag racing. Dave Mccleland and John DiBartolomeo both gone.
For some reason this loss seems to hurt more, What a great guy. I only meet John once but we did talk on the phone when he would call in.

He was a great racer long before he became known for his event coverage
He won a lot in the Puerto Rican Dream Vega in S/G in the 1980’s
He did racecar work and made very good hitches for motorhomes
Did at the track repairs and sold stuff and a lot of people looked to him for advice an info
He was a no nonsense kind of guy and devoted to the sport
R.I.P. Johnny D.

He raced at my home track, Island Dragway with that car, a black Chevelle in the early days as bracket racing got going.

We talked a few times at Moroso 5-Day and at the PRI when I was writing columns for DragRacingOnline.com. Super nice guy, Prayers for him and his family.
I only had the pleasure one time, at the WFC, to talk to John for a few minutes, but it was crystal clear he was a genuine guy, period, who also loved drag racing. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

We had some great races over the years. He was always smiling.
Will miss seeing him at the track. Another person with nearly unlimited racing knowledge gone far too soon.
