Two years ago, the average price of a gallon of milk was a little over $3. Now it’s a little over $4. Of course, I don’t buy milk so those prices are what I found on the internet, so you know they must be true

Here in milk country 2 yrs ago it was $1.69 a gallon for 2%. Today I paid $2.79 for the exact same product, over 30% more. I hope the local dairies can still make a decent profit selling at this price.

Sounds like a good way for farmers to go broke. $1.69 was ridiculously cheap 10 years ago.

People need to look into what it takes to produce a gallon of milk, or try keeping and milking a cow.

Look at Beef. Chad next door sold 25 cows. Mainly because the feed is already brown here! You think he would get somewhat close to what it’s selling for? Not even close. Same for Redwood, Steve Will Trucking/Logging same thing! These guys are getting hosed. I just bought redwood deck materials to restore the front deck. I had sticker shock!

Whole milk is the exact same price as 2%... go figure. WI is still the largest producer of cheese followed closely by CA. There has been a big loss of family dairy farms here the past 40 years. My grandfathers dairy farm was sold for housing development over 50 yrs ago.

Maybe fuel prices spike interest in more local racing? I know it has for me. Well that, and new ownership at our local track.

I am a small one man operation...I am sponsored by Social Security...I had to pull out of the SFG season opener because my new ride was not ready...I did find out that they did not sell out to the cap...I also heard the Doorslammer race at Piedmont was a bit light on attendance...both these events have very experienced and excellent promoters...did inflation, fuel prices and hotel costs affect attendance...a good case could be made for that position...

I know I have had to cut back on my racing travel schedule...with gas at almost 4 bucks a gallon, race fuel at 13 a gallon wholesale, hotels at $175 a night average and food costs 40% higher, the expense side has squeezed me pretty good...I had 6 big money events scheduled but have cut that to two...I am trying to keep my tows to under 3 hours each way...I am just trying to hunker down for the next 2.5 years...

Fuel prices will take care of car counts. Unfortunately.

I would expect car counts will suffer, more so when there is rain chance here. Paid $5.05/gal for pump premium for bracket car. In 2020 I paid $2.40/gal in Memphis.

Can no longer fill small RV on a single swipe except for local races.

Other things seem to be climbing pretty fast, lical stores have fair amount of empty shelves. Wife at dog trial in NC, she sats shelves look like here.

We are running points at closest track and running others on off weekends. May go to NC July/August to run in hot months here. I liked Mooresville track. I stay within 60 miles of Rockingham, Piedmont and a little longer drive to Darlington.

I do not like seeing the next generations have to deal with this.

It is not just fuel prices it is everything. Loaf of bread was $1 now $2.49, Stouffers frozen dinners were $1.99 now $3.99 for same ones, Ice cream, eggs and Bacon have more than doubled. Everything is up a minimum of 35% so to say inflation is only 7% is a flat out lie.

Gas was $1.49 day after election, last week $3.99. Two months ago (Before Putin invaded Ukraine it was $3.49 so you can not blame it all on Putin you can say he did not help but he did not cause problem.

All of this will effect car count. We can argue about how much but it will effect all of us. And if it hurts car count too much it will hurt pay out to. Tracks have to make money or they can not stay in business. Some still say all of the tracks should hire more people to inspect safety equipment and check for violations and kick out those who do not comply. They could do that and some of the people would make the changes and come back. Most would not and these tracks do not need or want to run off customers, racers or spectators.
We have one race scheduled this year that is very far away and when you have to tow 300 miles or more each way you have to consider if it is worth it or not. Some will and some may not.

If just 20% of the racers choose not to spend the money to get to these races it will have to hurt Payout. What are you going to do if they cut payout?

I plan to race as normal as long as possible.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I believe the advanced weather forecast will hurt the turnout more than the price at the pump.

The most interesting thing is the "low budget cars" will keep showing up.

When you race within your means, most of the fuel price increase won't effect your program as much.

Fuel prices might not be that big of a factor.

Drag Racers are basically one executive order away from being canceled under this administration.

Race while you still can before it is banned due to "climate change"!

What decade was that???

People keep quoting gas prices during pandemic lockdowns as if they were normal. Roll Eyes This is idiotic (as were the lockdowns themselves). There is no possible way that anyone has actually forgotten what Governors did to their States, and the effect it had on businesses and individuals alike, which in turn destroyed the demand for fuel. Oil had even gone NEGATIVE for a short time, as they had no place to store all of the unused supply. President Trump made a 2-year deal with OPEC in April 2020 to severely restrict oil production in order to prop up oil prices just to keep our oil companies from going bankrupt.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/ma...a-opec-oil-deal-role

The national average for regular gas the week ending Nov. 2, 2020 was $2.11. People seem to forget that the national average had gone as high as $2.98 in 2018 and $2.94 in 2019. $1.50 gas was NOT NORMAL. Not even close. The national average through most of 2019 was around $2.50-$2.60. That would be a much more realistic expectation of where we could or should be.

I have a swiss army knife door car, and I'm not dedicated to a series. I have a close 1/4 mile track and I'll adapt my car to run a variety of classes there (top, bottom, index, nostalgia) depending on what they have that weekend.

I agree with Holytown "The most interesting thing is the "low budget cars" will keep showing up."

Yes, you will see the over leveraged racers not show up, or less often. I would also say that, while most racers probably can afford the fuel prices and inflation, most racers that stick to a budget and not a major credit card will adjust accordingly to their tastes, and not worry about what others think of them.

You won't here this in the fantasy news, but Biden proposed an annual budget to run this place yesterday, $6 trillion dollars. That's a half a trillion a month. WOW!

Seems like they'd crank back up domestic oil production, to kick the economy in the ass and blow the bubble back up.

But no that's not the plan!
