First I saw of this was up in the North East 50-60 years ago. Saw many a racer from NY, NJ, come down to DC area and race at what we called overlook (DC, MD, line) more than once saw $10,000 change hands. Sometimes they would race at Capitol or Aquasco drag strips.

Torqin and Ed in a grudge race? I would make a road trip to see that in person.

The grudge races are great for drawing spectators, especially in this area. Notice I didn't say great "for filling the bleachers". That is because grudge race spectators don't use the bleachers. They stand on the starting line. Funny thing is, they might only see maybe 6 actual "races" for the entire day. The vast majority of time is spent smack talking. That wouldn't be so bad, if they didn't do all that smack talking right there in the staging lanes, holding things up. But I'm sure it is helping the track operators bottom line, so I hope they keep right on doing it.

On test and tune days, a friend of mine and I have our own bracket grudge races, best 3 out of five. Lately, he has been burying me. Smile But it's a blast, it's cheap, and spectators actually seem to like it (weird, I know).

Video of my "grudge races"

Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

I'm betting Chris would have to drive much further north and east. LOL As a matter of fact I saw a thread on here about directions to Numidia.
