Only a 15 car field and no Torrence or Salinas. New countdown rules are already effecting participation.

With new countdown format it gives the "Nitro" teams a chance to skip several races and still qualify for the countdown. At at least $100,000 per race for the fuel teams why not skip some races and save some $$$. After all the sportsman racers only have to attend 5 out of 8 divisional and 3 out of 6 national races (or less) to win the world championship.

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

Down to 13 cars, Scott Palmer said if Torrance isn't there neither will he. Palmer gets allot of support from the Torrance team. Jeff Diel also said he will not be there for the same reason plus his new car isn't 100% ready

They've been shooting themselves for 20 years. This time might have been in the torso.

NHRA should have long ago put TF and Funny Car back on the 1/4 mile and slowed them down a tad, hopefully by way of rules changes that would lower the cost of competing.

I understand the whole saving teams money by picking and choosing the events to attend but the problem I see is “the show” is suppose to cater to the dwindling number of spectators in the stands. Do these spectators not buy these tickets in advance? It’s gonna end up with the issue the NBA is having with “load management” and these spectators buy their tickets in advance only to have the “star player” sitting out that night due to “load management.” If a racer fan gets their tickets only to not see their favorite driver go down the track then is that not gonna discourage them from wanting to buy a ticket in the future to have the same thing happen again? That’s just the view I’m looking at it from!
