Dependence on China for crucial medical equipment throughout the pandemic has illuminated the dangers of a hyper-globalized economy. Experts had warned of American dependence on key drug ingredients from China. The Wall Street Journal has reported that China is the only maker of key ingredients for certain classes of drugs, including established antibiotics that treat a range of bacterial infections such as pneumonia. American reliance on Chinese suppliers for other pharmaceuticals and medical supplies is also worrisome. Americans should not depend on an authoritarian rival state for its citizens’ health—any more than the United States and other free and open societies should give Chinese companies, and by extension the Chinese Communist Party, control over communications infrastructure and sensitive personal data.

Consider the Possibility That Trump Is Right About China
Critics are letting their disdain for the president blind them to geopolitical realities.

Yep.
Agree on all fronts.

How's that saving a couple bucks working out for them now?
It cracks me up when I see those posts trying to save a few bucks.

What I don't get is HOW can ANY American want to support the "COMMUNIST PARTY", but they continually do.
It makes NO sense.

I agree,

The globalist neoliberal take down of the United States is an interesting one, on all fronts. From the well meaning useful idiot dupes who funded the Chinese Empire purchasing chinese garbage, to the neoliberal multi-national business interests who convince themselves of merit in their riches, and the riches of shareholders. All the while gutting the foundation of the US economy, the manufacturing sector. Of course these people have checked out to their bugout location bunkers, for a birds eye view of the upcoming civil unrest and subsequent thinning of the herd.

But lets say hypothetically all the socialist money printing bailout operations save the stock market, and we do arrive back at some semblance of normalcy, with the neo-liberal globalist Oligarchy at the wheel. It'll only mean in another ten years or so, they'll help themselves to another socialist bailout when the next big fat ugly economic bubble is blown up, at the expense of the purchasing power of tax payer dollars. In this case some of us will be sitting back spectating more of the same circus clown world.

But that's not my dial in for second round, I see track conditions deteriorating unimaginably. Either way though, it's gonna be a helluva show. Especially for us with the wisdom to look beyond the distractions, to the real circus clown world and you know there's some serious greed from the clown controllers when they even offshore US medical capabilities, to a satanic communist regime. But Hell, that's where we are headed anyway.

Mike I agree with most of what you say. However I don't share your fatalistic view of the future. History has shown us that man will only tolerate so much before they rise up against their oppressors. It takes some a lot longer to react but they will eventually react. I believe that this virus, the resulting panic/fear has and hopefully is the wake up call we needed in the US. We, and I mean every citizen of the US, should be pounding their congressman, senator demanding that the US pull back on our dependence on not only manufacturing in China but the entire third world, if not more. Globalization is and will be the downfall of the US and its democratic allies. Don't know about you but I'm f'ing sick and tired of liberals, democrats and the left in general pushing this one world society. Our forefathers left England, Europe to establish a democratic society of self governance. We threw off the shackles of England by a very bloody war, twice (don't forget the war of 1812) so we could be our own society, independent and free thinking. In the name of greed the US had allowed us to become subservient to a nefarious one world government.

Again, pound on your elected officials demanding a return of all manufacturing to the USA. Rant over.

I'm skeptical for the reason the majority of Americans haven't a clue of how the current vile maxim system (greed) is damaging the United States. Where are all the politicians who could if they wanted, educate the masses? They're nowhere to be found.

It's simple to explain. Americans decent paying jobs have been offshored to china. The wages that were lost have been replaced by expanded credit (sub prime loans) or loans to anyone with a pulse. All the while these loans are given out, they are good for economic statistics even though headed to default knowingly, from the moment they were given out, this goes for credit cards, automobile and home loans, cheap money zero percent interest eight year car loans as an example. This is the Big Fat Ugly economic bubble. All a result of low paying service sector based minimum wage part time sales clerk jobs.

So in short America produces nothing and has been turned into one big shopping mall. For the peasants to peddle chinese garbage that enriches a few globalists who claim merit in their filthy rich lifestyles.

The mastermind neo-liberals who make huge profit margins exploiting chinese slave labor rates for themselves and their shareholders, have reinvented the entire US economy into the service sector.

And now more and more people everyday are getting more comfortable going online to do their shopping.

They had to pull the plug on it before EVERY American caught on to what I just pointed out.

And now they want bail outs for a cherry on top and they will claim merit for their riches.

Welcome to clown world.

Deadon Mike.
You don't even read about the millions of home foreclosures out there because they are right back at giving people 100% to 115% mortgages.
I bought a foreclosure home about 18 months ago, fixed it up, when I went to sell it every single prospect needed $$ to close with and had to finance at least 100%. (I refuse to give $$ back at close, never did it and never will).
If people are that broke dyck (to use Ed's verbiage) then I don't need to do business with them and won't.

The girl that bought my house financed 106%, had 0 to put down or close with.
Guess what, I got a call about 2 months ago from the bank to see if I wanted to buy it back again, F-IN crazy.

It's right back to where it was back in 2008, 100% financing or more.
People just don't care any more.

Deja Vu. A young latina girl bought the house just west of me. She burned bother ends of the government candle. She worked for the government, then took in government wards of the state, a half-way house kind of deal, to make extra money. It was doomed to fail and did. The house is currently under renovation (it was completely trashed to include holes in the walls), bought by a guy fixing it up. I wish him luck with the current crisis. The above scenario above was hatched under Obama's policy to get trash into middle class neighborhoods.

yet you continue to vote for the same idiot politicians who won't correct the issue. Until the electorate votes out these crooked politicians we will continue down the same road. BTW, the issue with the mindless continuation of mortgage lending, i.e. no equity, was started under the Jimmy Carter administration, promoted by the Bushes, Clinton and Obama. Both democrats and republicans fueled by wall street greed and I mean this, stupid dumass borrowers. If you don't have a stake (equity) in the deal you don't own schitt, your a renter.

Well said. I agree.
Our issue herein Connecticut is we are out numbered by a huge amount. The Dems buy the votes one way or another. There are 3.5 Million people in CT, but there are only 1.5 Million working (according to the CT Census)
So quick math, how can less than half the people pay for 100% of the people, answer - they can't.
That's why our state is ALWAYS in the RED.

The Dems keep giving them FREE stuff, MORE $$ for FREE rent, FREE Heat, FREE food, FREE transportation, etc, etc.

It's a vicious cycle, Dems give out free stuff, the "System Suckers" keep voting them in.

How many people are going to go back to work after staying home collecting $1000 a WEEK?

I'm going to date myself but our first house we needed 33% down, could only use 30% of our income to qualify and the interest rate was 18% and we were GLAD to do it.

Boy, things changed.

Yeah Ed, but it's not the buyers fault, after all everybody deserves to own a home..... (sarcasm)...

Well guys , Medical Parts are Done!!

We have completed the emergency parts for the ventilators, and the thanks we get is a cancelled P.O. for the next shipment and was told, "China is able to ship us the parts for cheaper than you can, now that we are able to get them through customs"

This was quite a disappointing statement to hear after the effort we made! However we are proud to have helped and it's time to start getting after all these Valvetrain development projects that have begun to back up.

Here's how I see it.

We used to have two political parties in this country.

The democrats funded by LABOR or more specifically labor unions.

And the paleoconservative Republicans funded by AMERICAN big business.

So you had a balance between AMERICAN labor and AMERICAN big business.

*Note,,, the paleoconservative Republicans strongly opposed offshoring jobs because they understood it would undermine citizens wages.

*Note ,,, the neoconservative Republicans who came over from the democrat party in the early 1970's were for globalization because their Imperialist ideology had the United States ruling the world (EMPIRE), after the end of the cold war.

It's the neoconservatives who brought about globalism which destroyed American jobs putting us on the current debt based low wage system.

Reagan fired all the neocons and tried to lock them up (Scooter Libby). Poppy Bush pardoned and hired them all and here we are in Globalism, about to self destruct.

Clinton and Obama were neocons with a democrat name tag.

Interestingly the neocons are all over on MSNBC now - William Krystol.

Wall street never learned their lesson from 12/13 years ago. Why, the Obama administration bailed their sorry arses out, along with both republicans and democrats kissing Obamas arse and saving their own arses. Again the greed of our corrupt political leaders picked our pockets in the name of SAVING us. Bull schitt. As I have stated before, keep electing the same idiot politicians and you get what you deserved. I spent 30+ years in the mortgage industry, both as a company owner and an underwriter never getting involved in the subprime schitt. In '07 I saw the handwriting on the wall and bailed, (sold out) to save myself and my families arse. Got lucky because we all know what happened months later. Got debt free and today I don't have any debt, a paid for house, cars, trucks, racecar and trailer. Keep up the current greedy trends, keep buying Chinese krap, voting for the same corrupt politicians and good luck.

I'm a manufacturing engineer by degree, Industrial Engineer by trade, but despite this I'll never claim to be an expert on global manufacturing economics. However, outsourcing is such a multifaceted issue that it's unreal. Anyone who says they only buy American made products is simply lying to themselves, and anyone who boasts "I told ya so" during situations like this is a hypocrite.

It's easy for race car equipment to focus your purchases on American made products, and I have no problem paying double or triple for a domestic unit (anyone that knows me knows how frugal I am). But we live in a global economy and there is just no getting around that. I type this on a foreign made phone, sitting on a foreign made chair, and sorry, I have no guilt about that.

It's your story, you can tell it anyway you want. I'll tell ya how it really is though. If you don't wanna participate, you don't buy anything. That's what I did.

Now I am typing on a chinese made chromebook, but if every American decided to not participate and only had a chromebook made in china, the manufacturing would have been stateside long ago and the United States wouldn't be in the condition it is in. That's a fact, common sense.

Me, I wouldn't have a chair made in china, if it were free.

It would take sacrifice though, hell most Americans can't go to work without being apart of building the chinese Empire. Construction trades just to name one.

You sit in that chair without a care, even though it'll send future generations down the river without a paddle. But then again we as a country might already be there, without a paddle.

Everyone was given the choice.
