There are only a few of us print magazines left and I can tell you we all need your support. About the only thing I can say is we hope you would subscribe to one of us because as our e-mail blasts mention, “Support those who support the sport.”

I used to get all of the magazines but about 15 years ago I stopped. What made me do it was I was wanting to learn how to set up rear end gears and one magazine had and article on cover. "How to set up rear ends at home" Awesome, but when I read the article it was written by Currie Enterprises and was nothing more than an advertisement and the article basically said step by step.

Step One. Raise up rear end of car and put jack stands to support it.
Step Two. Carefully Remove Rear End.
Step Three. Call Currie Enterprises for a direct fit replacement.
Step Four. Install Currie Enterprises rear end and enjoy.

That was literally how the story went and I wanted to know how to set up the gears, how to measure the lash, what tools I need etc. That is not meant to blast Currie, they have a good product and are in the market to sell so I do not blame them for that. But it is an example of many "Articles" in many magazines. They are designed to look like a tech article but are just an advertisement or Infomercial.

I saved most all of my magazines for years but then in the old days they had good pictures of cars and good tech articles. Now they like most everything else is nothing more than an advertisement. I even like some of the advertisements I want to know what is new on the market.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

The one thing in my opinion that kills a good drag racing magazine is when it highlights the same drivers that all other sources highlight week in and week out. The market just seems to be flooded with the same old Top Fuel, Funny Car, or Pro Stock material.

Strongly Agree. A large part of the market for these publications target don't race with corporate money.

X3. It's hard to buck the herd mentality of current popular trends. One has to look no further than today's so-called news channels. You can surf 5 different stations, and while they'll sure have a different slant/spin on the topics they are basically the same. Regardless of the real news worthiness of the topic, and worthy topics (which is at the core of the above comments) important to the citizenry goes unaddressed.

Back in the days before Internet. You had great magazines. Go back and look at super stock and drag illustrated and bracket racing USA. There are tons of grass roots racers and parts that can be covered in a magazine.
