Your policy starts by insuring your race car, and you can also cover your trailer and contents, along with tools and spare parts. With few exclusions, the policy provides coverage:

At NHRA and IHRA member race tracks

In transit, or at a hotel or restaurant

At your storage location (even if not at home)

At car shows, and other displays

All year round, even when disassembled!

Coverage is not provided when the car is going down the race track under power, but coverage is provided in the pits, staging lanes, and on the return road.

If you are not racing at a NHRA or IHRA sanctioned track then is your stuff no longer covered?

The Company I sell for has the same coverage, Let me know if you need Your race car covered call me or Bill .or email me the following information.

That did not really answer the question.... Is your stuff insured if it is at a racetrack that is NOT a licensed NHRA or IHRA track

They look at the risk involved, the cost of replacement and base the premiums on that.
What about if it is parked down the street from the ghetto? (Crackhouse, whatever)
What if it is parked near the auto junk yard that is really just a chop shop for stolen stuff?
What if it is parked at the race track between races? Other people have access to it several times a week but those people do not steal. Right.
There are people who have got their trailers stolen from Locked Uhaul facilities with video cameras and you have to have a card to swipe and code to get in. That was supposedly a secure facility.

While they may "Cover it" the more risky and less protected it is the harder it is going to be to get a fair settlement if anything does ever happen.

I agree getting insurance is a very good idea but you still have to do your best to protect it or you will have a problem with the insurance company. Another thing is the insurance company bases their rates on risk involved. The higher the risk of a claim the more expensive the premiums will be if they insure it at all.

I suggest getting the insurance but also storing it in as safe of a place as possible and also getting multiple layers of security. In the end I think you are responsible for the security and and the insurance is there in case something fails.

PERFECT

Fuzz,
I'm not doubting you BUT I would say there is MORE to the story than the trailer sitting in your driveway.
Most ALL of us that race at different tracks throughout the year leave our stuff parked in our driveway between races and don't remove our cars from the trailer (unless they are broken).

I don't live in a gated community, far from it. My stuff sits right on the side of my driveway.

As I stated, I would bet there is more to it than just leaving your stuff in your driveway. Maybe you lived too close to a questionable neighborhood, or something.

The insurance companies KNOW everything about your area from your address.

I also know that MANY local guys that are at LVD (I myself included when I raced there) leave their whole rig (camper and trailer and race cars) right at the track ALL season. A few years back there was an incident where trailers were broken into and stuff stolen. The insurance company paid the ones that had it.

Yes, my stuff is insured with Bill.
Yes, I have had a claim and got my check within a couple weeks.
Smile

Frank, I am sure Bill wouldn't tell you guys and gals tough luck if your stuff got stolen when it gets parked across the street from the track from time to time when they have their big events. No gates, no cameras, no nothing over there, just a big field. And since Bill IS an announcer at LVD, he kinda knows the situation........

Maybe LVD doesn't have the crackhead problems that someone thinks the NJ/PA tracks have.... Wink I'll have to ask Wayne how they remedied that situation next time I see him. Smile

If you would look at my comments what you are saying is not true,
Give me a call and I can explain the coverage so any racer will not have an issue if they have a claim.

Honestly, there is nothing more to it...I lived in the "Estate" section of town on 3/4 acre of land...best part of the city by far...remember, my junk is on an 18" open trailer along with my scooter, as I said...I went through the entire process including pictures and forms only to be informed I would not be insured...that's all I can tell you...

I moved two months ago to a gated community with a toy lot inside...I rent a space and park my rig in that lot alongside the expensive boats and giant RV's...hopefully I can insure this time...we have no garages and are not allowed to park anything but personal vehicles in our driveways/carports...oh yeah, I have a coupler lock and a ball lock on it when parked...

I have been asking for years when speaking with agents to come onto DRR and interact with our users to no prevail including the person I used the last 2 years.

Like Chris Norris, I'm sure Bill Horton is a good guy but neither have came on here and answered questions. I really appreciate it and I hope our members do to.

And you're right. This is not a debate, you are a smart guy, a licensed agent and a respected racer in the country. I hope you do a lot of business with our members. You certainly will have mine come renewal.

SL...

SL, Chris did come on here once when I messaged him on Facebook to come over. It has been quite a while ago though.

Fuzz, I am further South than you surrounded by cows on an acre and a half. I have just retired and have it as a second home. I still have the big place in Country Estates.

I will be sending Don my info. My property is fenced and locked. I doubt an underwriter will have any issue insuring my car.

I like this place being a double wide, easy to get to plumbing/power underneath. I also noticed that it does not get warm or cold fast, very comfortable. We signed contract just before Irma, other than limbs/trees down there was no damage. Irma hit here directly.

Ignore "Ed who" comments, if I was depending on racing to eat and was as good a racer as him, I'd be real skinny.

A summary of plan

Motorsports Coverage
Some vehicles were born to be raced. Hitting the track in a nostalgia dragster, vintage race car, street legal muscle car, or pro street - it's always an adventure.
The other 99% of the time, your race car is off-track. And that's what we protect. From a sudden storm ripping through the paddock to a trailer fire on the tow back home, we've seen it all. So we created affordable Guaranteed Value(tm) coverage to protect race cars while they're not on the track.
Our Limited Trailer and Paddock (LTP) coverage* will protect your race car:
* In the trailer -- while in transit and loading and unloading
* In the paddock
* While in storage or at the shop
* From theft, fire, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and more
* Everywhere but on the track or while racing See our options for HPDE Track Day insurance
Full coverage is also available for street legal race cars for driving on the street or enjoying a parade lap or two.
Our Off Track Insurance Program features:
Affordable Premiums
Costs less per year than a set of racing tires.
Guaranteed Value Coverage
We understand how provenance, history and drivers can affect a vehicle's overall value. We'll work with you to determine the true value, and that's what we'll pay in the event of a covered total loss.* Guaranteed.
Coverage For How You Use Your Race Car
We protect your car in the trailer, in the paddock, in storage - just not when it's racing on the track. Full coverage is available for driving on the street if it's a street-legal race car, or even for a parade lap or two.
Knowledgeable Claims Handling
Claims handled by Hagerty claims staff -- experts in repairing race cars and understanding their unique needs.
Extras Formulated for Motorsports Enthusiasts We automatically include $750 in spare parts coverage, and we can increase that amount and add tools coverage - at a reasonable rate.

Thanks
