Moser Engineering $10K Saturday at Keystone Raceway Park today, Nick Bowman is the last no box car, getting a $1,000 bonus. Oh yeah, he's a foot braker, and a deep stager! He matches up with Andy Conrath in a dragster in round 8 for the final round. Nick is .0406 to Andy's .0175, Andy takes a chuck too much, under by .0057, Nick dead on with a 9, to take the $10K! It was a no split final, nice payday for Nick!

The end of deep staging? I raced at the one at Wilksboro and in no uncertain terms deep staging was not allowed period. So whats the deal IHRA? Is it or isn't it? + its a chicken **** way for bottom bulb cars to have to race when they are paying the same entry as top. Glad to see Nick win one for the deep staging bottom bulbers.

Bottom bulbers pay the same entry but they get paid MORE. There's a bonus for being the last bottom bulb car. While they are kept separate down to 1, there is technically only one class.

I was down to the last two No-Box cars at the Dragway 42 event when it rained out. Won four rounds and went home with $1,175 in the split. They had changed the rules to allow deep staging a few weeks before the event. I was Deep and had zero problems all day.

No box was 6 rounds both days, then went against the box cars for round 7/semis.

Full event results:

After having to reschedule the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular 2 times, this past weekend finally worked out for the event. It was run in conjunction with the Real Painting Inc 660 Junior Dragster Nationals, and we thank all of the competitors, their crews, and families for working together to run both events. Outside of a hiccup in the weather Saturday night, taking away the fun races (moms in juniors, and the turtle race), both ran smoothly, with fantastic racing every round, every class.

Saturday, August 4
Real Painting Inc 660 Junior Dragster Nationals:
7-11 year olds:
W – Jake Harvanek, Cheswick, PA, 8.94 dial in, .1530 reaction time, 8.9499 elapsed time, 73.40mph
R/U – Nicholas Abruzzi, Warren, OH, 12.07 dial in, .0521 reaction time, 12.0589 elapsed time, 45.22mph
Nicholas with the starting line advantage, but goes .011 under trying to hold off the 28+mph faster car, local racer Jake takes the $2000 win.

12-17 year olds:
W – Grace Rowe, Marengo, OH, 7.90 dial, .0630 RT, 7.9150 ET, 81.91mph
R/U – Kyle Beno, LaGrange, OH, 7.90 dial, .0792 RT, 7.9322 ET, 80.85mph
Heads up on the dial in, Grace leads the race from stripe to stripe for the $2000 win.

Elite 8 (7.90 index)
W – Madi Shaw, .0154 RT, 7.9118 ET, 81.91mph
R/U – Jaden Robshaw, .0255 RT, 7.8864 ET, 82.04mph
Madi, .0272 package, only leaves Jaden .0017 to get in on, Jaden going under while crossing first by .015.

Yes the track had AutoStart and it was in use in all classes along with crosstalk in Box class . As for the deep stagers, The several racers that deep staged went right in an turned both bulbs on ( pre stage for them ) and starter did not have to hold the tree then. It then worked like a regular race with autostart timeout in effect. It was an IHRA official starter running the starting line. There was no issues at all with deep staging even when it was a dragster vs deep staging door car in semi and final.

I dont understand this. If the deepstager has 2 bulbs on, and the box guy has one bulb on, then if the box guy turns on his second bulb before the deepstager turns his top bulb off, what keeps the tree from dropping?

Nothing stops the tree from dropping. The deeper is allowed to double-bulb at the start of the process, and understands that they need to get in there once the top bulb is lit on the other side.

They are allowed to deep stage, but there's no guarantee.
