With all the economy issues 131 steps up to the plate ..

quote:
RACK ENHANCMENTS SET TO BEGIN
Beginning next week, November 3rd, US 131 Motorsports Park’s racing surface will undergo a face lift. Specialized equipment will start to mill out 16 feet sections in each lane of the racing surface in preparation of the additional 500 feet of concrete to be constructed, replacing the current asphalt.

This enhancement will give the already smooth surface a total of 1000 feet of concrete with the remainder of the 1320 feet surface asphalt. “This plan is one of being proactive not reactive,” states US 131 Motorsports Park general manager Jason Peterson. “Due to normal wear on a track in time rough areas develop along with possible water seeping and other issues. Because of the amount of use this track receives through weekly events and private testing we are taking this step in advance rather than waiting.”

This Saturday, October 31st will be the last day of racing for the 2009 season. By starting on this project now, the concrete will have time to cure and set over the winter months. In April the racing surface will then be ground to ensure a return to a smooth and flat racing surface. Known as “The Fastest Track in Michigan,” US 131 Motorsports Park has every intention of keeping this prestigious declaration.

That really is a nice facility I wish they would put together some sort of quick 32 or quick 16 program...maybe a big money bracket race...5K or 10K if they put it on they'd get the cars

They've tried the big money thing, but no one will show up. This upgrade will be sweet, definetely a privilage to live close to this kind of facility. Maybe a new timing system for 2010? One can hope.

Jason is right they have tried the 5k deal a few years back never really worked out, I do think itd have more success now and wish they would try something again.

Id almost put money on the timing system working fine .. we still do get a weird mph now and then though ..

Great new picture of the car Scott!! Going rounds or not, that is one bad looking Hot Rod! Win or lose, we had a great time at Camp Sabin.

That would be necessary if they ever do attempt 5K or 10K races in the future and bring people to the track other than regulars. I know for a fact that a ton of people won't even think about racing for big bucks with a TSI timing system.

Jason and Stephanie are doing a great job and I love racing at 131. Nice to hear good news these days.

I like the old days where the gates opened at 3:00, time trials at 4:00, three sessions, and racing at 8:00. It gave you time to get things done. The current deal kind of wastes the whole day. Or start early, like at 9:00, and be home for dinner. That would be okay.

OK I have to ask what's different with a TSI timing system compared to any other system??
