Alright, things are a bit boring in here. And yes, I know there are a hundred truck forums out there.

Looking for a mid size truck, I got rear ended in my old Ford Ranger the other day and they totaled it. I'm thinking a new truck since the used market is so high, plus it should last me till I croak.

Looking at Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier or Honda Ridgeline. Not too interested in the GM stuff after reading the reviews. I love my big Dodge that I pull the trailer with but not too excited about their small pickup.

What says the DRR contingent? Recommendations, personal experience??

My choice would be a 2023 CANYON DENALI 4WD
$53,700 with 4WD, trailering package and bed lighting.

I've never owned a mid-size truck, but maybe this is something to consider. I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed, standard cab with the Hemi. I call it our run about vehicle & absolutely love it. We have no cars & will probably never own another car.

If you can find one without a markup, a Ford Maverick may be a good option depending one what your intended usage is.

We’ve had ours since January and so far really like it. The 40mpg is nice too. It doesn’t replace any of the 3 full sizes we have for other stuff, but as a grocery getter and baseball chaser it works great.

I hate to say it, and eating some crow doing it...TOYOTA.

GM is absolutely the worst of the choices. I had been a Chevy/GMC guy for decades.

That’s your opinion and that’s all that matters when you are buying a truck but it’s not opinion of all buyers of trucks…

“General Motors sells more trucks than any other manufacturer. Combining the sales of its two truck brands, Chevrolet and GMC, GM sold more than 882,000 pickup trucks in the 2022 calendar year.Jan 5, 2023”

I haven’t and wouldn’t own any other truck and I got a bad one in 2005.

I don’t like the ergonomics of the Toyotas but they are one of the longest lasting trucks and hold stupid resale value.

I have 2 Ford trucks and my new one is a GMC but these are all full size trucks.

Ive got all gm products, always have, my 02 gmc 1500hd 4x4 has 184k on the clock. All I have done is replaced the drivers door regulator once, that being said, one of my customers has a fleet of Tundras that I do the servicing on, and if I was 40 years younger I would definitely be doing some tire kicking on one of those units. They are a big, well built truck, imo.

I bought a new Tacoma today. Looked at everything, GM, Ford, Nissan, Honda and Toyota. I liked the Toyota the best. I did not want the new twin turbo 4 cylinder engines that are in most of the newer trucks. 2024 Toyota Tacoma will have the same thing, a new twin turbo 4 cylinder.

Nissan and Honda are the only ones that I know of that are not changing. As best I understand it anyway.

I wanted the boring and proven six cylinder engine. My wife liked it also and that helped make the decision easier.

This truck should last me till I croak.

You can't beat a Toyota

Good Morning Vern:

I've owned a 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma for the past 14 years and I've never had a problem. It won't safely tow your trailer but it's a great choice for a reliable vehicle that gets great fuel mileage. I've used it to haul two 55 gallon drums of race fuel without any problems. It still has the same rear brakes and spark plugs. It's the little engine that keeps on running and running and running.

Bob,

I have a friend with the four cylinder and the manual transmission. It’s been great for him but I don’t want the twin turbos. They might be great but I know the V-6 is a proven deal.

I must be getting old. I never thought I'd see the day where a little pickup was well over $55k. Of course I seldom buy new. If I can't pay cash for it it's unlikely to go in our fleet.
