There are a few things about Covid-19 that we do need to consider compared to the Flu. One we don't know if it will disappear when it gets warmer like the Flu does. There is no vaccine at this time as there is for the Flu and we don't have any antibodies for Covid-19 yet. That is what is driving our officials to err on the conservative side. The unknown. All that said it so far has seemed to be much, much milder than many of the viruses that we know and have dealt with. There is always the possibility of a mutation but that will have to be dealt with when it happens.

As of now from what I can tell I should probably run to Costco or Sam's and buy as much toilet paper and hand sanitizer as is humanly possible. LOL

No joke folks this is very serious!

One of our daughters lives in Rome Italy with her husband and two daughters ages 11 and 15. Currently they are not allowed to leave the house, the Coronavirus is spreading like wild fire, no one is safe and the death rate is rapidly increasing. Germany is expecting the virus to affect between 60% and 70% of the entire population, primarily due to the high number of immigrants from other Nations. The number of projected infected citizens in France is about the same. The spread overseas is terrifying if you have a family, younger children and older folks are at serious risk.

In the United States the number of infected citizens is rapidly increasing, this is not a joke and not to be taken lightly it is a respiratory virus and it is very serious. I strongly recommend that everyone follow the instructions given by health care experts.

We, (as the tough guys we THINK we are) have a tendency to make jokes and blow off warnings like this, this is not one of those times, be very careful!

Bob I think honestly most of us will end up getting this. We are just delaying the inevitable. It won't be as bad as feared and it won't be dealt with as easily as hoped. The financial downturn we are going to get hit with is really going to hurt.

Our Hospitals are going to be overwhelmed if it spreads as quickly as predicted. Finding a Doctor may be very difficult, in Italy they are asking retired Doctors and Nurses to help. My wife is a retired RN, it's entirely possible that she may be needed.

As you said, the economy is going to take a big hit, many public events are being cancelled. The small business owners are going to suffer, in fact many people will have to endure a financial hardship.

It is serious BUT it needs to be put into perspective. The regular flu creates many more deaths.
If you are old with breathing issues you may want to watch what you are doing other than that I would continue on with your life as usual.
Think about it, what if someone from a LARGE food processing company (beef, pork, chicken, fruits, vegetables, etc. etc) gets it (which I'm sure they already have) are they going to close the whole facility down and NOT send out the food product? Hell no, you think there is a shortage now on hand sanitizer and toilet paper, what about NO FOOD.
You'd have people shooting people for a hot dog.

Wash your hands, use sanitizer, cough/sneeze into your shirt, if you see someone NOT covering their mouth YELL at the idiot so everyone around knows he's a dumb a s s.

It will be spreading/numbers growing but that's just the nature of the beast with any virus.
Chances are some of us on this board ALREADY have it and don't know it. For the typical person it's just a cough, a head ache and a slight (1 to 2 degree) fever. Hell, that's a normal day for me.

Don't worry or panic, it is here BUT it will go away as all viruses do.
I'm more afraid of contacting the REGULAR flu, that will kill a healthy person.

It seems that the concern is that the combination of the contagiousness and the mortality could add up quickly. The two groups that could overwhelm our medical systems are the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems. And there are a lot in both groups. We don't want that. I think we know about how lethal it is, particularly for older folks. What we don't exactly know is how much of our population will carry it. Many reports out saying that by mid summer, nearly 50% of our population could have seen infection. I don't know if that is reasonable. But it seems to be much more contagious than the flu. So do the math. Half of 327 million is roughly 165 million people. Let's say our superior medical care can push the mortality rate down to 1%. That's another 1 million people. Not 61,000 like the 17-18 flu season. And yes this is mostly going to be older and compromised. But what they are our parents? Or Fern? I hope that 50% number can be driven way down.

You sportsman guys go ahead, we have plenty of you.

From NHRA...

Some Sportsman racing will be contested this weekend without ticketed spectators, but the majority of the event has been postponed to a later date.

In consideration of the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with the recommendation of the Florida governor, NHRA officials are postponing a portion of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.

The Sportsman categories of Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Dragster presented by Vortech Superchargers, and Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers will be contested on Thursday at Gainesville and will complete competition this weekend without ticketed spectators.

Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Pro Mod, Factory Stock Showdown, Top Fuel Harley, Top Alcohol Dragster, and Top Alcohol Funny Car will compete at a later date to be determined.

Current tickets will be honored at the rescheduled event or ticketholders may opt to use their tickets as a credit toward the 2021 Gatornationals.

NHRA will determine next steps for moving forward as additional information becomes available.

We appreciate the patience of our competitors and fans

well guess amke it x2000. I agree its a bad deal just don't see the threat to be near what its being blown out to be. Of all deaths in US 90% are from one place and for that area I can see it being almost as big as its being made out to be. I see extra caution for elderly foilks and anything like nursing homes. I do not see closing schools or state of emergency for other states. IMO states are just jumping on board to get their hands in into the 8.5 billion and growing money pot. Thats just my opinion.
