Nobody ever has, Interstate is crystal clear. Pretty sure but not 100% positive it's what the guy I get it from down here has. If it's not Interstate, it's as crystal clear as Interstate. I bought a drum at Immokolee winter warmup race years back from another guy from Maryland, it was excellent as well. I don't run a filter, so fuel gets looked at. | |||

175 per drum is a good price, you may want to stick to that deal. You may find a slightly better price but may have to buy a lot of fuel at a time for a minor savings... | |||

He did as of last year. I want to say the price was $175/drum, the year before was 165 and it comes with top lube. I think it’s 20 barrels minimum to get it shipped, not sure if that’s just in the northeast or if they ship ****her. A friend of mine put the order together and I got some drums. | |||

Alan used to have a 4 drum minimum for truck shipment.... Was very convenient and prices back when I ran Methanol was around 150 a drum | |||

The better question is how high will methanol skyrocket in price, looking forward. You always wanna look forward. Positive thinking won't help, it's only wishful. If I remember correctly methanol skyrocketed to around $350 a drum during the last economic collapse (2007-2008). This collapse will make the last one look like summer camp, when the fallout settles in. I say it reaches $350 easily, gasoline is already skyrocketing at the pump. Debt Bomb - Inflation | |||

Turn the lights out, w/ black fuel cell shine a flashlight in it. It'll either be crystal clear or full of contaminants, no in between. Buying from sprint car racers typically works out good, they know how to inspect the fuel, and do every batch. I bought fuel from Riverview racing for years. FWIW, I will only use Interstate brand methanol if available. Knowing Alan a little bit makes me comfortable using his fuel. I don't think his mind ever shuts off. Just don't talk to him, because he doesn't have an opinion about anything!  LoL. All in fun! | |||

Methanol pricing is pegged to the price of natural gas, which is quite low, and has been since @2007. Thank you fracing. Off spec methanol is about water content. Being hygroscopic, open container allows water to be absorbed into solution easily. This is how corrosion occurs. The water allows acids to be created, and soft metals are attacked by these acids. If your methanol is milky, it is beyond contaminated.Unless you have equipment to test the water content, you're NOT going to have a clue whether it's off spec. Because I work in a plant where we make heavier alcohols, I use such equipment EVERY day on my job. Ethanol is also equally susceptible to water contamination. If your fuel is drummed at the point of origin, it's probably good. If it's drummed AT the bulk plant down the road, you DON'T know how well they are handling it. Is the tank out in the sun? Temperature changes promote pressure changes, and can suck air in when it's cooling off at night. Rapid turnover reduces problems too, since time is opportunity to pull in air/water.
