Having a pro brake in the trans, pumping front tires to max rating (door car) and using more 2 step rpm will allow the car to react fastest.

Although this may sound like a fun deal, it's probably not if you really think about it...

In order to have a good shot of winning your VRT needs to be fast vs the field so a protree type of car has a good advantage, pop the wheels out of the beams instead of driving through them! Protree brakes, limit front end travel etc etc... basically most would have to change their current car setup to be competitive. Foot brakers won't have much chance here either.

The whole deal to me makes no sense at all.

If the timers start when the green light comes on, then it's a fair deal. If they start conventionally, it's a fast car's game.

I don’t think you’re following along.

1st (slow car) is going to have a .400 light on average (against an absolute best allowable of .000).

I would just dial .3 faster than the slow car and let go on his wiggle. Assuming I have a DRT + VRT of about .400 also, I actually cut a .100 light. I can now take a quarter second at the stripe and still be in good shape.

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

If you are both pretty close in VRT, drive the finish line and try to dump him and push him out, otherwise time to grab a cold one, go sit in the stands and watch the rest of the race.

If your car can't go red on a .400 pro tree, this may not be the race for you.

I looked at the tracks site and see the race but don't see any rules. The big question is are delay boxes allowed? If I was putting on this race delay boxes wouldn't be allowed.

It is strange that there are no posted rules.
Without knowing them,its hard to imagine that much interest.
If it was a deal where you could add your reaction time to your dial in,that might be interesting.
You wouldn't have to have a great reaction time as long as you knew what it was going to be and could factor that into the race.
Even deep staged,a slow car would have no chance on a traditional instant green type of race.Might be able to anticipate the green for a round,but that technique isn't going to win the race.

I be not really checked or heard rules yet, my understanding is it’s meant to be sort of a “Throw back” to 50 years ago,when all the track had when it opened was a green light only tree. It’s the tracks 50th anniversary celebration.

If I were using a delay box racing in the faster car on a shielded tree, I wouldn't leave off of my bulb OR his bulb. I'd leave off "him". Put the amount of difference in your dials in the box and then take another tenth or more out. Leave when you see his car move. You'll be a tenth or more better than whatever he is. If he is dead late, you'll still be a tenth or more better. If he is on time, you'll still be a tenth or more better. Take care. Tom Worthington


This would work and produce a win 99% of the time. The only way this wouldnt is if the slower car "Guessed" tree and produced a near perfect RT. Then you can potentially go red depending on how you set your box.

They run these races around here at English Mountain Dragway. They started with a traffic light before they set up a tree. I've not been to one of these races but I want to spectate at one, they pay good money and get a big crowd.
