It’s no secret I have consistently argued the competition level of the left coast racers for years now. I truly believe the average racer in the West is much less competitive than those from the East. I mean we have had 6 Million Dollar races in Vegas (the only race that there is comparable number of racers from each side) and only one of you have even made a main event final with 0 wins going y’alls way. The biggest race on your side of the country has been dominated by people from the East. The smaller surrounding races you might ask for that same event? East leads in wins 16-8. Total Finals? 29-19. Guess who? East again. Big money not your thing? That’s fine. NHRA ET Bracket Runoff. (always hosted on the West Coast) Division 7? 0 Super Pro Wins. In the 22 year history of the race NO ONE from the home division of this event has ever won it. Division 6 has only 2 wins in Super Pro which ties them for 5th in the category which if you’re doing common core math is tied for second to last.
Knowing these stats and even though VERY few of you have showed any success on a bigger stage I still constantly see racers saying how “no one respects us” or “no one gives us an opportunity”.
So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m here to give you that opportunity and put my money where my extremely loud and opinionated mouth is.
Memorial Day Weekend is the Spring Stampede powered by The Hose Connection at The Texas Motorplex. A 5k, Twin 20k Main Events and a $10k 1/4 Mile Shootout. It’s also the weekend after the Dallas Double Divisional if you need any extra incentive. If any of you tall sock, flatbill hat wearing, no driving sons of *****es who reside in ANY state West of Texas miraculously win ANY race on the weekend I will pay you 10% over the advertised purse and I’ll admit y’all deserve more recognition and respect. But if you come to Texas and get blown out I will beat on y’all harder than Vince Young did USC in the ‘06 Rose Bowl. Because I honestly believe it’ll be a miracle if y’all beat the competition that will be on the grounds that weekend.
So the challenge has been made. You can either keep complaining online or you can come take my damn money. Ball is in your hands West Coasters.
See y’all in May.
*Disclaimer- These views are mine and mine alone. They do not reflect the views of the Texas Motorplex, Flicker Promotions or the Ezell Family

Well, if you're that good, come on up to Bandimere....I'm sure there's more than a handful of racers that will trailer you every pass down the track on their worst day....Including some of the best drivers in the world, Kris Whitfield, Bradley Johnson to name a couple...

I would make a statement about east but I think you mean east of the Rockies, as there are quite a few of those Southern folks in the mid south that have done some pretty decent damage !!

They aren't. They are busy racing. Both Bradley and Kris race full time, and if the weather here isn't good or isn't in the season here, they are racing elsewhere. Kris races and does race car wiring for a living. Bradley's folks own a concrete company here. They do take time off but most of their time is spent at a race track.

But for the record, I'd put anybody here against anybody there in a heartbeat. I guess there's an easy answer to this question too, at least in part. Why is it rare that any east coast racers that come here for National events, and even some divisional events usually end up a spectator first or second round?

If you ask me, there are great racers everywhere, not just the east or just the west. But for someone to say they are better there is outright ignorance and arrogance, without any validation whatsoever.....slam me all you want, that's fact.

Mark, without question racers from the east dominate. Yes there are equally as good racers from the west but far fewer than the east. BTW, Kris and my son speak often.

You guys should come run here on the mountain......Be interesting to get Kyle and Kris in opposite lanes....I'm sure they'd make a great race out of it....

I suspect they would, maybe one day but it’s more like it Kyle and Kris will find themselves racing each other at some other race in the east. Big Grin

I agree with you on the arrogance portion. The answer to the question of why east coast racers don't travel west (Other than the Vegas Fling), is simple. Why?

There is always a race going on in the east, or at least central time zone equal to or larger than anything going on at any time in the West (Again other than the Vegas Fling).

No reason to spend the gas money.

And that's one thing I wish would happen out this way, but I doubt it will. Would love to have more tracks, big money races, things like that on a more regular basis.....
