They need to make some for Starlink too so I can get rid of my hotspot and have real internet service. Been waiting almost 2 years now. A good buddy of mine just got his a month ago that isn't far from me.

60 Minutes or a similar show to it did a story on chips. The US Government has given companies huge amounts of money to start producing chips. The owner of one of the companies gave some crazy timeline (5-8yrs) to be able to actually producing the product.

My new truck is going to get built, since we changed the radio package that included some stupid driver assistance stuff I didn't want anyway.

We ordered a Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid in early August 2021. No sign of it. Communications from Ford advise us to remove options to improve the odds that it gets scheduled. Nah, we will wait.

The only option we opted out of was rear seat headrest monitors. It'll probably take ours to the next model year.

It ain't just the chips for heated seats or engines or whatever.

the machines that make parts are all confuserized. When one machine takes a dump the whole line stops to get repaired. If a part ain't available to fix it, the line is dead for a while.

I am a professional fishing guide and I need 3 reels to replace 3 worn out ones. I can't get them. Supposedly the machinery that is used to make the spools is down because no parts available to fix it.

I guess that's the "supply chain" interruptions that we've been hearing so much about.

I agree there is a lot more to this than what we are told but that is usually the case with all of the news stories.

And finally, we are dependent on Asian markets for certain things and I believe that we are finally seeing HOW dependent we really are and how that dependency is costing America. The fragility of the global economy is showing it's ugly head. I've always believed that if we were to go to world war--which I believe isn't too far off based on current events--that we, the USA, are going to be screwed. We import parts to make/build/fix our own military equipment for crying out loud! And if we go to war with the supplying country? Gonna be a lot harder to win a war against a country that you're dependent on.
