Three books
Must read books for today's world.

1- Atlas Shrugged. NOT the stupid attempt to make a movie of it. We ARE on the precipice of the story becoming way too true today. It's a grind at 1200 pages, but well worth the read.

2- 1984. Current truth, from fiction. Should be labelled as a horror novel.

3- State of Fear, by Michael Crichton.
From Wiki:
"Despite being a work of fiction, the book contains many graphs and footnotes, two appendices, and a 20-page bibliography".
That is true. Good read.

I'd like to read the thoughts of any of y'all that have read these works.

38 years after the first time I'm reading 1984 again. You could use every one of those terms today. It's uncanny.
Seriously for those who don't believe this stuff can be predicted.....you should really read this book.

For me, the horror of totalitarianism was not that someone would impose it on you, but rather that you might be all-too-prepared to submit.

Forgone conclusion

Since I drive to my new jobsites, the first time, I listen to audio novels to pass the time and miles. I listened to 1984 again last year, driving back and forth, Raleigh to Atlanta, before we could fly again. The parrallels were eye opening. Scary, somewhat.

You have to put in the effort, to get anything out of it.

Atlas Shrugged was absolutely a grind. The way Ayan Rand writes, being so descriptive is good and bad at the same time. I enjoyed it non the less but doubt I will read it again.

The movies were terrible.

I guess ya don’t know til you know. But the ones you can be pretty sure of are the ones that are simply extensions of the thought police. Those who will turn you in for not cheering as enthusiastically as required. Those with their heads buried up the asses of the ministry of truth.

That is totalitarinism in general. AZZ munchers, those looking for browny points.

They're always the first to get slautered as the dictator recognizes how slimy they are, and see's them as a threat as their usefulness diminishes.

Look into what Hitler did with the brownshirts on the night of the longknives.

Orwells 1984 isn't as much of a prediction, as it is a reminder of how history repeats itself IMO.

AS you're watching all this unfold, keep in mind the psychopaths always jump to each others defense/aid.

They're like looters in that they don't need any special practice in holding doors for each other.

The last thing they want is for anyone shining a light on any of their activities.

Read Atlas Shrugged in 1965 while in the Army as lbj's and the demon-0RAT's socialist policies were being implemented.
I remember reading and thinking that things will NEVER reach this point in the United States of America.
We're officially there, students in Wisconsin are being charged for not using the leftists idiotically conjured pronouns that spit on centuries of accepted science that has been challenged numerous times and survived!
This is just as terrifying as what is being done to the nation economically!!!

TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!!

Maybe not exactly what you were inferring, but it's what came to mind.

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.
